The secondary event has been confirmed with Dadi, and is going ahead.
Time control is 40 moves in 120 days, followed by 40 days with no increment.
Event is double round robin, regardless of number of entries.
There will be no prizemoney for this event.
Entries will close at the same time as the main event and play will start at the same time as the main event.
It is a secondary event, for those players who think that the main event time control is too fast, but we want to get them involved in WBCCC and so they can be familiar with how our events run.
Feel free to say you are in.

A lot of the same rules still do exist, I just have not got around to putting them up yet, or they are under the banner of the main event. The main one that concerned you previously was declaring your real name. As you can see, you do not have to change your handle on here anymore, but you do still have to declare your real name. That rule still exists. I will add you after confirming that you are ok with this as for the round robin seed numbers are determined by order of entry, not by rating.
I have no problem declaring my real name, I have a problem with it being made public.
I'm in.
I thought I would share the game below with all in this tournament. It is from an ICCF game of mine which is actually against a FIDE GM. You will see where I got the idea for all my games starting 1. e4 e5 from.

The time control and double round robin has been set up for a large number of games, with quite a few players who clearly said that the time control of 30 days plus 1 hour increment was too fast for them. So where are all these entrants now? At the moment, except for two players, it is just a doubling up of entrants from the main event. Not a new set of entrants.
And you bet I will let fly big time if they do not enter and this event does not get off the ground, especially because those who whinged and complained that the time control of the main event was too fast for them did not enter this event.

From the list of possible entrants above, can those who are definitely not going to play in the secondary double round event please reply back in this thread and confirm your non participation. That way I can remove your name and reduce the number of unnecessary private messages.

So Harvey has an elo of 231 over me,that could be fun.

That is his rating from iccf. Your rating comes from four years of games on here of results collected against opponents with similar ratings.
Hello everyone, I'm a new player for WBCCC, I will participate in the secondary event only, because it fits better with my available spare time. I'm glad to have the opportunity of play against good players as yours, and I want to thank Garvin for the time and effort he spend in this tournament.
Cheers!

Hello Aser, welcome to the tourney :)
This competition is dependant on the fate of the main event. If the main competition goes ahead, so will this. If it does not, then this one will not either. Please double check that your name is correctly entered, or withdrawn, as the case maybe, now that the entry deadline as passed.

Good luck.
Good luck.
Clearly there have been some technical issues that have delayed the start of the double round robin event. Once these have been sorted out, the event will get underway. I am unable to list a timeframe as to when this will be, as it is up to the chessok server team to sort out.
Oh boy! It started

This has to be the most boring tournament ever, way to go Garvin. Harvey is the only bright spot.

I like to play to win sometimes this can mean losing a game or 2. In this tournament I should win at least 3 games and hope not to lose any.
> In this tournament I should win at least 3 games and hope not to lose any
Same here, although they are not trivial wins. My other two games should be draw, and then there are the Neel Basant games ... someone knows why he is not playing? I hope the reason won't be a health problem.
I've been thinking about it Scott. Remember back when we were Discussing the creation of the Rybka Grand Prix? I made logos about it and all.
I think that if we contacted Dadi Johnson about it he could help us organize a tournament in the spirit of the very first WBCCC, because, I don't believe it was a one-off, it probably can be organized at any point if there's interest.

New ideas are definitely needed Uly. When you have a TD who gets pissed off at the mere mention of anything different than he has planned, it's hard to come up with meaningful dialog.
I still feel that crushing blow when I "mouse-slipped" in our game like it was 10 minutes ago, :(
I've been retiring from CC (finishing games, not starting new ones), but I love this site and the many friends and also a few DH's,
So I would be open to something new....

Well, if you have some new idea and need a TD to manage a fun tournament give me a call
I remember when the WBCCC used to be something special, nowadays I'm playing in a ICCF tournament and I can't tell them apart, but the question is, what is needed to reinvigorate this stuff up?

Update on Neel Basant.
I contacted Neel straight after his loss on time in the main event, seeking an explanation. There was no reply. Just a few days ago, I finally received a reply, stating he was withdrawing from the event due to family issues (the reply was more extensive, but that is up to him to share), but as my pm was about the main event, I replied asking him to clarify if he was withdrawing from both events. This was about a week ago.
Since then there has been no reply. As Neel has no finished any games, I have now written to Dadi to declare all of Neel's games lost as I am taking it that Neel was talking about withdrawing from everything.
