Great poll!
Good   question.

Vas, was  "frequently compared to the Australian band,  "Dead Can Dance"!

Azam Ali (1995–2004) -- vocals, hammered dulcimer, tambura, drums
Greg Ellis (1995–2004) -- udu, tabla, dumbek, nagara, cymbals, bells, drums, keyboards (American  percussionist).
Cameron Stone (2000) -- cello on In the Garden of Souls

After their last album they split up.

However, I don't expect Vas to get back together! Never!  Vas split up! Vas left some nice moments to help calm your mind your mind your mind your mind your mind ...

So, now when someone asks "where is Vas?"  You can say, " Melodically and lyrically resounding  in my mind!"

Well it's not like Vas totally disappeared. Rumours that he went to a monastery are just that, rumours. I could find a few pictures of a Rajlich that are not so well known I think, but also not very recent.

This picture, upon closer inspection, is I think not Vas, but the title mentions a Vaclav. I think it is the person on the left

This is fairly recent. It is from end 2012 I think.
Iweta had just won this tournament in Poland, ahead of several male GMs and Vas congratulates her here. I thought it was a very nice picture!

This is older but not, as you might think from Vas' hairstyle somewhere in the 1970s... Budapest, in Batthyanyi Square. In the background is the Hungarian parliament.
A professional picture made by Georgios Makkas (copyrighted) for IEEE Spectrum magazine

I think this is also a member of a Rajlich family and someone obviously very much at home with computers and at ease with electronic equipment!
But the cat is not related to Vas I think.

The most we can do now is fall back on

This is rather off topic, but as this forum is very silent otherwise, not much of Rybka interest to report, I was just wondering if anyone recognizes the person in this picture. No, it is not Vas this time. It is a screen shot of the film Deep Impact. I must say that the film which had some mixed reviews apparently, it really had more of an impact on me than the other disaster movie of the same theme and the same year, although that is a good movie as disaster movies go. I really think this one may grow into a classic, despite some holes maybe in places where some artistic licence was taken. But now for this very small detail of one of the opening scenes, if you know that Steven Spielberg was executive producer, I really think this could be a cameo of him à la Hitchcock. It is a blurry shot of a person sitting on the edge of a park fountain, somewhere near the Capitol where the protagonist reporter tries to get some information from a just fired secretary. In the background is the reporter's car and the person seems immersed in his book but just as the camera is focused on him, he gets up and stretches his back a bit, so again the view is a bit drawn that way. And not that many people in Washington have such an intellectual look like Spielberg has. I would guess also not that many professional politicicians or civil service men read books on their lunch breaks in Washington. But I could not find any credit to Spielberg at least not as an actor in the film

Doesn't look like Spielberg at all to me. Looks more like Jamie Hyneman with glasses and a wig.
Parent - - By Eelco de Groot (***) Date 2014-06-09 12:56
Jamie Hyneman is 1.78m, Spielberg is 1.71 and if anything, the person in the shot is maybe taller than 1.71. But other than that, I am not convinced. I think the person in the movie has his own hair, you see it waving in the wind. And Jamie has red hair and a moustache!

Parent - By Labyrinth (*****) [us] Date 2014-06-09 16:08
Wasn't a serious suggestion, just that this person looks very un-spielberg-like to me.

Spielberg always has a short mustache and beard and doesn't have great big flowing hair like that.

Not sure how you're determining the height, could be offset by a number of factors. Maybe if we had a video clip of the part you're talking about.

But the more serious question, "Where is Vas?"

Haha, looks like Carsten Hansel :-)

In the restroom.

Since december last year I have a Rybka V version, someone namelessly pointed out how to get it.

It's no longer available but traces are left.

Connect the dots yourself.

This is extraordinary news. I have heard - on good authority - that there is no Rybka 5 UCI in the works, but your post might contradict that. The link you provide leads nowhere, did you ever test this version?!
Parent - By Rebel (****) Date 2014-02-19 15:35 Edited 2014-02-19 15:37
Looks real at first glance, has a similarity of 62.1% with 4.1

Small chance it's a fake someone trying to pull Vas' leg again.

But ever since Robodini times you can't be sure, meaning there are some people out there who are able.
Parent - By Fulcrum2000 (****) [nl] Date 2014-02-19 13:45
As this points to an illegal warez distribution site, I think we can safely assume the Rybka V is a fake...

I connected the dots here and got a file compiled in 2008 with SHA256: 4b20fd22d443cfcabe50c69da681dbd02790c68bf9c96143508f53512b6f6dcf . Is this what we're talking about? It looks like an old Rybka.

I think you are right, it's Rybka 3 and that "exiftool" util is very handy.

Are you also aware of the password protected zip file "123456CR5.7z" that came with it?

Parent - - By irulats (****) [ie] Date 2014-02-20 21:53 Edited 2014-02-20 22:46
Yes, I saw that but had no p/w for it. Did you get a look at what's in it? I presumed it was just the same R3.exe since if I 7zip it has the same size.
Parent - By Rebel (****) Date 2014-02-22 10:23
At first glance I assumed it was source-code as what other higher priority can there be if you leave the executable unprotected. But you make a good point regarding the sizes although it gives a sloppy impression. There are tools that suggest they can guess a lost password, I tried a few but they are a joke. For instance, protecting a file with the password "abc" and then not able to find it after hours.
