The forum is still going offline now and then, and this is a blind spot on what moves can be posted by the server.

This means that moves sent to the server while the Forum is offline will not be posted on forum, so don't rely on it to know when it's your time to move, always check XfccPlay in case your opponent's move was posted in the blind zone.

Is there problem with the server right now?
- - By Garvin Gray (****) Date 2012-06-10 06:40
Uly is quite correct. Xfccplay is the official software for use in WBCCC games. Even if the forum is offline for extended periods of time, the games continue so long as xfccplay is available for play. Everyone should be receiving emails to notify them their opponents have moved.

Only if xfccplay is not working from the RF end are the games temporarily halted.

So please do not rely on the forum to inform a move had been made.

Particularly from 9 am to 11 AM ISD, It either says 404 bad gateway or nameless forum.

Mine is working just fine thanks to dadi,

Weird, I got "2012-09-23 12:00:   A moderator edited a post", meaning someone edited one of my messages on this thread, but I don't see any edit time stamp.
Parent - - By Garvin Gray (****) Date 2012-09-24 02:27
That was me, updating the thread title to include 'for your moves'.
Parent - - By Uly (Gold) Date 2012-09-24 18:44
Ah, thank you.

I didn't know post stamps weren't updated after thread title edits.

It used to be that you didn't even have to be a moderator to edit a thread's title - you could just post a topic-level reply and edit the title from there. Looks like it was solved by decoupling title edits from post edits.

And I tested it by declaring the Religious Wars thread the new Test Thread (to see if I could do it to threads I hadn't started) after changing the Test Thread to... something, I don't remember what.

I think that's what a true ninja does, doing things in stealth without anybody noticing like changing thread titles of someone else when you're not a moderator, not just being faster than someone else at posting something

PS - I wonder what bug will they introduce when they fix the "no edit post stamp on edited title thread" bug...

My opponent's time is not changing since yesterday and it is his move. Any idea what is happening with the Server?
Parent - - By Garvin Gray (****) Date 2012-11-13 14:39
An opponents time never counts down when it is your move. Last move played 35. f4
Parent - By Indrajit (***) Date 2012-11-13 15:10
No. Last move is 35. .... Kg8. I played it yesterday.

Reminder to all. Do not rely on the forum to see updates for your game. It is possible that the forum may not always update a game position promptly. The official software for the games is xfccplay and even if the forum is not updating, your clock will still be running in xfccplay.

So if your game has not been updated for a while, it is possible that your opponent has replied by xfccplay and the game has moved on.

So keep checking xfccplay.

Time to make an addtion to this following events from the last 24 hours. xfccplay is still the official software and moves are still only to be entered only via that software, not via the forum. If the software is 'down' we wait. Moves are not entered via the forum. Whilst it might seem simple to enter a few moves via the forum, it opens up all the usual avenues for complaints. What happens with draw offers, claims etc. And what happens if a player resigns on the forum, then decides to play on via xfccplay because they find a save? Its just not worth it.

All for just saving a bit of time. Just show some patience, all issues will be solved in time and we will always be back up and running soon enough. As it turned out in this situation, we were back up and running in less than 12 hours.

I would also like to add my 2p worth,if near end of game a player is very short of time and in danger of losing because of this,i am sure Garvin would look back to position where player lost time because of server down and correct this,it has never happened yet.
Saying that a lot of things have happened in last 3 years that have never happened before in Corr Chess.

There has been an issue for the last couple of days with the moves not been relayed to here from the server. This is being looked into by Dadi and the team. So a reminder to everyone that has games going that the competition is still continuing and you need to check xfccplay and your emails for your moves.
