As a former chessbase/fritz user, I am dying of frustration using Aquarium.
How do I quickly enter and analyse a position from, say, a book or magazine? I want to see both the position and the analysis on the screen at the same time.

Thanks in advance.

Easiest way is to enter the 'sandbox' mode (button bottom left). Then click the 'analysis' tab (along the top). I now press the start custom option & choose the engine I wish to analyse with. Finally click 'ok'. You can now enter moves with the analysis is running.

If you wish to setup a position click the 'board' tab (also along the top)

I too am a Fritz user - found it confusing at the start but worth the effort!!

Enjoy

Sandbox Mode and the Analyze Button are the key things.  I find it very quick now that I've used it for a few hours.

This is a double post which was already answered by Victor on the Aquarium board:

1) Got to Sandbox mode.
2) Press S key
3) Setup position. Press ok

Then analyze.

Please don't double post and ask Aquarium related questions on the Aquarium board.

Triple, actually.

Well, at least there were some helpful answers to this post. Thanks for the post and answers from me here! I haven't yet managed to muster the courage for visiting and reading all posts in Aquarium forum, sorry I have to draw the line somewhere :)

I just hope I don't have to search the whole Aquarium subforum to find the answers to such basic questions, whenever I would decide to buy Aquarium. It is logical that such questions are asked by new users, the different answers given by endusers, programmers or Convekta representatives can all be instructive and helpful on their own if you are new to the GUI. It is not the simplest of programs I understand, and with new features being added to the Aquarium I think the programmers would also welcome some feedback from their customers.

Thanks!
Eelco
