Vas,

Can you provide an option to buy both the sp+mp version at a discount?

I would be interested in both versions and guess there may be others.

Thnx.

Please...Vas is not involved in that sort of thing...I thought both are available on 1 disc.

Oudheusa,

My understanding is that for Rybka 3 the single and multi cpu engines are exactly the same with only the number of threads changed. In other words the single processor engine is the multi processor version with the number of threads hard coded to 1.

Thanks Mark, that would solve my 'problem'

However, according to this post there seems to be a small bug in the mp version, which apparently does not exist in the sp version

I assume that the mp enigne in 'sp' mode still has this problem?

If you buy Deep Rybka, then you  will get both SP and MP. If just Rybka, then SP only. I bought Deep Rybka and this package contained both SP and MP.

Hmm, interesting, I haven't seen this announced anywhere.

Perhaps you got lucky ;)

You get both versions if you purchase the "Deep" version. Make sure you get Aquarium too. A real bargain and a terrific tool for analysis.

At least Deep Rybka that was purchased from Convekta had both SP and MP versions.
Downloaded archive has following subfolders:
a) 1-cpu
b) Multi-cpu

Both have 2 subdirectories:
a) w32
b) x64

They really are the same.

I didn't include both in the rybkachess.com package, since it doubles the size of the download.

They really are the same.

Then I was just fooled and paid in vain some extra money for Deep Rybka, believing, that MP version suits better for multi core systems ;)

That's what I call being quoted out of context! :)

ok thnx Vas, suggest you communicate this more clearly in the product info on the website

This is in the FAQ.

But not everybody reads the FAQ before making a purchase decision ;)

This shouldn't have any effect on purchase decisions. I want to keep the web site clean & simple, it's easy to add A and then add B and then C and then it's a mess.

I am not trying to argue here, only trying to help; what's more simple than indicating that deep rybka contains both the sp+mp versions?

Anyway, doesn't matter

Aha. Actually, the executables you get from RybkaChess don't include the single-processor versions.

They really are the same.

Is it even possible, to install the sp and mp version in one GUI with original names? They are named equal (?), so I can imagine, there will be a problem.

The single-processor version has "1-cpu" in both the filename and the engine name.
