Hi,

Apologies if this may have already been discussed,  but I Just noticed something odd in the Rybka 3 engine parameters.   When I load the engine the value multiPV_cp  is set (incorrectly ?)  to 0 (zero). However if I press the default button then the field is populated with the value 32768 which I presume is the correct value for multiPV mode.  I see that this mode is defined by Vas on the Rybka web site as :

MultiPV_cp: When Rybka runs in multi-variation mode, variations which are this number of centipawns worse than the best move are not given exact scores. This saves the engine from wasting CPU time assigning exact scores to clearly inferior moves.

Is is a bug that this sets to zero ?   What is the recommended value for this parameter to be set to  - is it 32768 ?

For reference I am using Fritz 9 GUI dated April 18th - maybe this is a GUI bug ?

Thanks,

Mark

1.No ! After the first usage the multiPV_cp becomes 32768.

2.MultiPV_cp: When Rybka runs in multi-variation mode, variations which are this number of centipawns worse than the best move are not given exact scores. This saves the engine from wasting CPU time assigning exact scores to clearly inferior moves.(from the Rybka 3 engine parameters).

This is completely wrong for Fritz GUI. 32768 is set to 0 in Fritz. Take 32767 and all is fine!

It's a GUI bug, you can check the FAQ for details.
