Hello,

during the search for alternatives phase I observed that Aquarium started the minimax process while the engines were still running. If the CPU now does not have a free core, the system freezes for some time (until minimax finish). This problem actually happened several times with a big tree and a lot of tasks (60000 tasks). Is this a known bug?

It is normal for Aquarium to minimax at interim stages of a large task queue, I think after about every 5000 completed tasks. Windows manages the allocation of resources for minimaxing when there are no free cores. Aquarium freezing other tree activity during the minimax process is also normal. This is not a bug, your system seems to be working as it should.

Is there any advantage of minimax at interim stages of a large task queue? The queue does not get smaller in this time. :-)

With such large queues there are many problems.  Minimax is one of them.  Personally when going thru this many alternative evaluations I try to inactivate the project and manually minimax, before it does it automatically.  This avoids the issue of having to few resources available for both.  The biggest queue I have ever tried was 75000 and I kept having a lot of slowdowns and other responsiveness issues... besides the minimax problem.
