As requested and since I offered. To make it clear, these pairings are provisional, subject to change, just for demonstration purposes and almost any other over-rider purposes in case anyone thinks of challenging later if the pairings change when another person enters or withdraws.

This is just so everyone can see how the pairings will work and especially how the rounds will be grouped.

Why the confused expression Om?

Luck factor minimized and Hyper tension increased.

At this stage  hey you also have black against Michael as well.

, I have a game with him going right now where I am the black pieces. Then I have white against you!

But I think it is too soon, I'm sure there will be more entries.

Gee, I had a whole line ready as white against Paul and Jose, now I'm black vs those two,  Not to sad really, it might even be better to be black so I don't have to face those

iron-clad defenses they have, just have to survive! But I have the feeling it will change again...

3 games round one and only 2 the rest, or did I miss something?:surprised::smile:
- - By Garvin Gray (****) Date 2013-12-18 00:07
I have not shown the 'rounds' at this point in time because with 15 games, not sure if 4 rounds in total (3 rounds of 4 games plus 1 round of 3 games), or 6 rounds with 3 rounds being with 3 games and 3 rounds with 2 games is better. Obviously with only four scheduled rounds, the time control would be longer to give more time with the increased games.

Also, because it is highly likely that another person will enter, making it 17 players and the discussion becomes moot. If we get to 19 players, then we need to go with 5 rounds, 1 round of 3 games and 4 rounds of 4 games, increased time control.

I don't like longer time controls, hardly anyone uses all the time anyway. After all this is blitz!

I know exactly what I'm going to play as black.
Parent - - By Scott (*****) Date 2013-12-21 21:12
Against me?, or just in general? Does it matter what white does? Anything you can add will be of great assistance,
Parent - By Mark Eldridge (****) Date 2013-12-21 21:27
Against everyone. Yes it does matter what white does.

Trust me, with four games running and say 40 days it will still be blitz

In Blitz chess, time is a factor, it is an important part of the game and makes for more excitement. Please don't take that away from this tournament.

Are you saying that you would rather stay with 6 rounds and have game allotments of 3, 3, 3, 2, 2, 2 rather than 3, 4, 4, 4?
In fact with 15 games, 5 rounds of 3 games is the best option, so it would be about 33 days initial time plus one hour increment.

I am also very wary of allowing for the impacts of forfeits, so am trying to stay away from having four game rounds. If we get to 20 players, then our options are limited.

This idea would be fine with me, an extra 3 days makes perfect sense. I just objected to the 40 days so strongly because it reminds me to much

of FICGS and a lot of other tournaments. It takes away the uniqueness of this tour. Very strong players playing very strong chess very quickly.

It's the quickly part that scares most of the big names from even trying this.

Yes, stick with 30/+1Hour!

> Yes, stick with 30/+1Hour!

Not really a matter of which one people prefer, even though it is sometimes helpful to know, but which one fits the requirements of the event best. I am trying to stay within the original ideals of the event, whilst also trying to keep the pairings as equal as possible across all rounds.
Parent - - By Mark Eldridge (****) Date 2013-12-21 19:24
Agree 30/+1hour is best for me.

It is what is best for the event, not what is best for any one person individually.

I am still trying to stay with 30 days plus 1 hour as I know that is the stated preference of most, but everything depends on what the final numbers end up as :) When we were at 16, 5 rounds of 3 games with a time control of 33 days plus 1 hour was best, now we are at 17, so back to 30 days. If we get to 19 entries, then it will change again, probably.
Parent - By Mark Eldridge (****) Date 2013-12-22 01:33
To be honest it does not matter to me what the time controls are.
