Up Topic Correspondence Chess / WBCCC 2014 / Entry fee/bond style system?

During discussions for the 2013 event, the idea of an entry fee or bond style system to help avoid withdrawals was passed around, but eventually decided as unnecessary. Perhaps part of those discussions the participants were still scarred by the events of 2011.

Anyways, the idea of an entry fee has been brought up again and I think it should be discussed again, if for no other reason that to see what others think. So, what do others think? Mainly participants as they are the ones who would be forking over the cash. It could either be an entry fee, or a bond style system, where you get half back for completing ALL scheduled rounds.

Discussion is yours, and mine too

And for those who are new to this event, this is what we do. Sometimes ideas come up, we chat about them, discuss and then as organiser I make a decision as hearing other opinions.

i'm not part of this, but i like the idea of bond style... but you get 100% back for completing all scheduled rounds. :)

A bond scheme sounds interesting you could charge an entrance fee with half going to prize moneys half returned if you complete all your rounds.
Failure to complete all your rounds would result in all your bond being transferred to prize money.

Then if people leave mid tour the prize money would increase to counter the pain to the tour and organizer.

Keep the discussion going everyone. I will post my thoughts in a few days as I do have plenty. I just want to avoid leading the discussion. Making this post so no one thinks that I am not offering an opinion.

I don't know if my opinion has any weight on this, since I am a new player here (2014 tour will be my first) but I just want to say that an entry fee is OK with me.

Let me be the first to welcome you Nikolaos! This is a tournament unlike any other and I'm sure you will enjoy it,

Best regards, Scott

Closing out a few items. This will not be happening.

Worth discussing for 2015 as it needs to be made clear up front. Rather than being discussed as we collect entries.
