In the past, the address of forum was:
http://rybkaforum.net/cgi-bin/rybkaforum/forum_show.pl/

What happened to or at the end of address?

What do you mean? The Forum link at the top still points to that.

Look at the address again. The / at the end of address.

And? forum_show.pl is not a directory so it doesn't need the slash.

It had that in past. Why the removed it?

Because it's not necessary?

Also, this one suffices:

http://rybkaforum.net/

The difference is that one makes all new posts (posted since last visit) old.

OMG, is that true?

What web address do you use? All these years I've been using rybkaforum.net and was just extra careful about the signing in thing b/c it marked all the posts as read.

Posts are never marked read unless you enter in the threads. They are marked old. It's:

Yellow page icon: New and Unread.

Yellow page with a red mark: New and Read.

White page icon: Old and Unread.

White page with a red mark: Old and Read.

Visiting http://rybkaforum.net/cgi-bin/rybkaforum/forum_show.pl does nothing, it's just like surfing the forum.

Visiting http://rybkaforum.net/ marks all the messages that were New on your last visit as Old (all yellow pages become white), and then, only messages posted since your last visit will be yellow (so the messages you didn't read last visit will be white and unmarked, the messages that were posted since your last visit will be yellow and unmarked, the messages that you read last visit will be white and marked and the new messages will be yellow and marked as you go around them.)

>What web address do you use?

I have to visit both addresses depending on situation and keep 300 posts per page, otherwise you are going to miss reading messages because if you enter on a thread with yellow and white messages, and reply to a message, and meanwhile visit another forum page, messages on pages you didn't visit will be marked white read even though you didn't get to see them. Problem that occurs in threads with many pages, but on a single page you just need to click back on your browser and keep reading the unmarked messages.

On a chronologically ordered forum this isn't a problem because new messages always appear at the bottom of the page, but here missed messages could be anywhere and you have to resort to searching for the dates of the messages you would have missed.

So:

http://rybkaforum.net/ <- When first visiting the forum.

http://rybkaforum.net/cgi-bin/rybkaforum/forum_show.pl <- the rest of the time.

http://rybkaforum.net/ <- Again when there's a thread with Yellow pages and marked yellow pages, so it doesn't become a chaotic mess.

Ok, I will try http://rybkaforum.net/cgi-bin/rybkaforum/forum_show.pl for a bit and see if I like it, although I probably will since the automatic marking of posts as read is a bit alarming at times.

It'll keep happening anyway as it happens on threads with many pages.
