To merge IDeA trees should I use the tree utility

07 Add Evaluation Tree?

Thanks

1) Open TreeUtilities
2) Go to Operations tab-> Tree Operations->Join tree

Thanks again

Both will work. Personally, I use Tree Operations -> Join tree.

Thank you... I take it there are no current problems in v5 (5.0.0 build 428) e.g. like we have with IDeA->Manage->Add results

Thanks again

Could someone please help me what to input in the fields below?
I want to join Tree1 and Tree2 to get TreeJoined and - if possible - I would want to join all positions after 1.e4 c5.
... and which tree will get precedence if the same position has 2 different evals in the two trees (not so much an issue in my case as I have used the same engine with the same settings but I might need to know in the future)?

I figured it out - at least I think so.
AllTrees is the "Master Tree", a combination of many trees and in the example below I add the small tree called PrepBlackC4.aqt to it.

Brief instructions for tree utilities are included in the Aquarium Faq towards the head of the topic list. It seems the output needs to be a new tree so that A + B are joined to make C. Having both input and output as the same file might explain the odd behavior you have experienced.

1. Input - the tree you want to use as input
2. Output - the fusioned trees output tree file (It would be better not to name it the same as the input tree, because the input tree will be lost afterwards!)
3. Join - The tree that you want to join with or attach to the input tree

Under the other "JoinTree.*" options you can choose your preferences how you want to join the two chosen trees together.

How to mark the top 3 graphs correctly? Let's call them: 1, 2, and 3.
The tree that we take for the union (A) - ?
The tree in which we place the taken tree A - ?
Aren't two graphs enough? What does 3 graphs mean?

1. input-tree A, which we take and combine;
2. output - ?
3. Join Free. Attaching - the tree in which we place the A tree.
Would that be the right thing to do? It is not clear what to specify in the output ?

Thanks for the reply. I have a good merge (copy) if the names are 2=3 (the same tree!).
