Have there been reports of such "unconventional/heretic"  matches?

Well, in a 230-game match, 64-bit, dual-core, no ponder, 2'+1", DR4 soundly beat DR4.1:
+51 -29 =150   score 126-104 (54.8%)
Standard deviation (for the 126-104) is ±4.5
Statistical fluke?  Well, needs more games (or other reports) to confirm...

Also to be noticed (and confirmed):
On infinite analysis of the start_position, Rybka 4 (64-bit) is around 5% faster than Rybka 4.1 (64-bit)

Playing micky mouse you won't get any advantage of R4.1, even it will play slower

Try the same test at game 8 without increments.

Set DR4.1 to 3-60-60 and try again.  You need to change the TC settings because of some of the bug fixes.

Well, the next 180 games don't go in the same direction...
+36 -30 =114   score 93-87 (51.7%), this time in favor of Deep Rybka 4.1

But the fact that
"on infinite analysis of the start_position, Rybka 4 (64-bit) is around 5% faster than Rybka 4.1 (64-bit)"
still stands, and can be verified by anybody!
