I have been an anti-Shredder GUI on tournament games. I have given my self sometime to get used to it and am starting to like it.

Now what I want to ask is this. Is there an equivalent of the Fritz GUI's options resign=Never or draw=Never?

By the way, I have never experienced crashes of the programs said to be clones on the Shredder GUI so far ;-)

Hi,

'I have been an anti-Shredder GUI on tournament games. I have given my self sometime to get used to it and am starting to like it.'

For a tourney there is nothing better! You can even run a tourney from a netdrive on different computers at the same time or start the GUI multiply time on one computer and run the same tourney. Both is what I am doing day in and out. Btw. You can stop games during a tourney with "st" (just type it) followed by enter. The GUI will finish the game and stop the tourney - you can resume anytime ...
Of course ou can simply click "new game" anytime too to interrupt, but the current game gets lost of course ..

'Is there an equivalent of the Fritz GUI's options resign=Never or draw=Never?'

Sure, hit F12 and remove the checkmarks in the "Etiquette' box. All games will be played to an end then.

Bye

Hi

Sure.

I am running 4 identical Computers. On one of these computers I installed the GUI (and all engines I want to use) on an USB Stick (4Gb is more then enough). This USB Stick is mapped as drive Z: on all computers. I start the GUI with a shortcut from that drive on all of the 4 computers of course you have to enter the seriel number for the GUI and any engine which is requierin it.

Now you specify/produce/make a tourney on ONE of the computers, run it, go to the other computers and start the GUI and "continue" the same tourney ... done.

Example: 4 comps all quads, running Ponder on and single engine you can start 8 GUIs on the 4 comps running the same tourney ... If youare interested in ponder off (why?) you could double the games in the same time.

There is a file called "tourneyname.sto". This file can be opened with a texteditor and contains the needed tourney information. Take care not to change anything while the tourney is running.

It is the easiest to simply try it.

Good luck
Ingo

I am not sure if I understand this, but no need to explain further. I will get there after finishing to build my other pc. It all makes music to my ears. Thanks a lot

the problem i have with it is the books; i have only one book for shredder GUI and that's the default shredder12.bkt. do you have a link to where i could DL more (some for eng-eng games) like perfect2009 for example?

of course now i have the silver suite & i assume shredder is capable of running test suites in eng-eng matches.

I think using the book adapter may be an idea. http://rybkachess.com/index.php?auswahl=Book+Adapter

Hi,

No, I dont have a link to books as I personaly think testing engines and books are two things which do not fit together at all ... (there are some S12 books out there, from time to time I stumble upon one but did never care to remember where they are)

... but you can import any set of PGN games and make a book of course. And yes, Shredder can play tourneys with opening positions - that is what I do.

Not much, but at least you could add more to the Shredder Books. Plus you will get something at least that is similar to Perfect 12.33 or Perfect 2009.

Don't blame me if you find them old for your liking, but at least it is worth a try  :)
