My question is and also from my friends, are you able to beat your creation Rybka 3, or does it spank you silly?

Thank you,
Gary, USA

might be better to have him ask his wife who is still playing professionally and tests for him. im also curious when the last time she (or he) beat rybka was, if they ever play full games against it.

My question is to both him and his wife!
Just curious how it feels to get spanked silly from your computer engine, which you created (hats off to you for sure!) unles, you can spank it silly?

Somewhere, I believe it was in an interview several years ago, Vas was asked a similar question. His response, if I remember correctly, was that he never played games with Rybka. Any playing he did with Rybka was limited to short sequences where he wanted to test how Rybka handled a given position.

Sorry, I answered even though I'm not Vas.

If Rybka4 beat rybka3 then it it is possible to say that it means that Vas beat Rybka3 because Vas is the author of rybka3 and Vas wrote clear instructions how to beat rybka3.

If Vas cannot beat rybka3 in a game with limited time because he is too slow then it has nothing to be about being silly(otherwise you can claim that humans are silly because some calculator calculates 12345*44363 faster then them).

Uri,

Just to know, What does it mean -->? "Vas wrote clear instructions how to beat rybka3"

Best regards,

                        Patricio.

The code of rybka4 is clear instructions to the computer how to beat rybka3.

Ok!

Yes, and if he translates his computer code into sentences that humans can follow and prints them in a book, then he will have written the ultimate text book for humans to play chess.

That would be a book you'd never finish...

Agreed.  It would be taking Alan Turing's computer chess exercise to the extreme.

Haven't tried it recently - but I'm sure it'd be a piece of cake. :)

And much more likely than the Redskins making the playoffs! :-)

I was in Vegas for a conference last June and saw that the odds were 999 to 1 against the Redskins winning the superbowl!  Not sure what they are now...
Parent - - By Vasik Rajlich (Silver) Date 2009-11-08 10:48
The odds before the season would have been something like 40:1 or at most 50:1.

The Redskins opened the season on the road against the Giants, one of the NFC favotires, and were 4-point underdogs.

You're right.  The 999 to 1 odds were for the Washington Nationals to win the World Series.  My memory isn't what it used to be... :)

Now that was below the belt.

Ouch - kick me when I'm down. I hope you're not a Falcons fan. :)

I think Kasparov would be spanked silly by Rybka 3 ... so it would seem like Vas would not be able to sit down for quite some time.

It depends on time/move

It's amazing how many Vasik Rajlich's there are in this forum under alias usernames! Or, maybe, they don't understand what "This question is for Vasik Rajlich only!" means?
Parent - - By rookie (**) Date 2009-11-06 18:45
Yes, but it's also amazing how many persons post personal messages on a public forum, and expect the message to remain private.

As Jim Morrison with the Doors would have said, "You're all a bunch of @#$%^& Slaves!" It's too bad that Vas can't give an honest answer to a simple question. Too bad I don't have Vas's e-mail address to ask him this question, but it's simply amazing how many illiterates responded to this post. Nevertheless, Vas is a genius, whom I was hoping to get a REAL ANSWER from him, especially, since he's a graduate from MIT and isn't as dumb as us (including myself)! Food for thought, perhaps all of you none Vasik Rajlich's can hold a meeting that includes all of your so called subject matter experts to this enquiry, especially since you responded for Vas, and as such, HAVE PROFOUND KNOWLEDGE whether Vas can beat his program, so go ahead and gather for a meeting for all of you SME to perform the historical and political circle jerk and stroke each other and avoid the question at hand. My response to this scenarios your circle jerk meeting is simply this, if you can handle my response, is, "None of us is as dumb as ALL OF US!"

Well... If Vas could regularly beat Rybka 3 on decent hardware, he'd probably make more money playing chess than making Rybka.
