Please vote on the poll and give your opinion about her as Rybka mascot :)
Perhaps this is what you tried to show after all. That Rybka is a very rare exceptional fish!! If that was your intention then you've managed it by making it a one paired fins fish.
Make contact to me or my lawyers for the royalty fees for that image...
Nice lighting and shadowing effects.
Vytron is it ok if I can save it to my computer and play with it?

Yeah, though keep in mind, the original was a lot more detailed and Vas made me get rid of the details, so a mascot to be used must be "the less the better."
i agree with the metallic gray comment. that's the color iwas thinking of as well. doesnt have to be dull, but something sleek looking & to remind one of the silicone nature of the fish. the color right now is a bit too loud or off for me.
>good for vas, i dont really get the criticisms. real fish are ugly. this one looks cool. scales gills etc? screw that.
I don't think real fish are ugly generally. There are fish that are very nice looking. Although it's a subjective matter i think most people would find e.g the Mandarinfish very spectacular.
I agree with Vas about simplicity. A simple yet powerful image is more interesting and memorable than a detailed image. To much detail distracts from
the point of the mascot.
If I want to see detailed fish, I'll go to the dentist and look in the aquarium. ;)
From Jerry Anderson's Stingray TV series
I remember going back to Fritz 6, Chessbase had some awesome graphics for their programs. Here's Fritz 6:
And now you give us a cartoon.
I've been trying to mold up the logo to Vas's vision, and he wants something simple, a realistic fish would be much more complex, so that's the wrong direction, that only leaves us with a cartoon, or no fish at all, but I'm still trying to go for a fish because I've dreamed of a fish of mine to be used to depict Rybka, I wouldn't be interested on Vas using a graphic of mine if it wasn't a fish.
My attempt before this one is currently outperforming this, but that's mainly because several people gave it a 10, I'm afraid some of these people already voted and think the other attempt was better, but just look at Vas's posts, he made me get rid of possibly what made people like the fish on the first place, and since he's the one that is going to decide whether she'll be used, we're currently with this version.
I'm mostly interested in what people have to say to improve her, as long as it's not putting more detail, being more realistic can only be done by adding elements, but the "improvement" has came from getting rid of them.
But like several here seemingly, I'm not to enthralled with the colour of this one. Besides that, pretty good!
Edit* On a second glance, maybe slightly smaller eyes as Nelson suggested above. 6/10
> What you've implemented looks like a cartoon, not the strongest chess program on the planet.
If it's the logo for the clearly "strongest chess program on the planet" it should be something like a cartoon, funny, nice, small.
Let weaker engines use terrible logos.
In times, when suddenly Fritz1 was there, very strong on the PC, it was a very good Idea too to give the program that 'small' name, not another colossus, Grandmaster, Chessmaster, XYZmaster, superfighter, everything-and-everyone-destroyer...
Understatement makes sympathy. "I'll ask my Fritz..."
In my opinion that fish doesn't need to look so very angry.

I think it has a vision problem. Maybe it needs glasses.
