I have adjusted the rybka settings. I also have the regular rybka 3. What I would like to do is adjust my "other" R3 so that when I go add and engine My rybka says Rybka 3.01 and the other one says rybka 3. How can I do this?

Thank You

which GUI are you using?

In Fritz if you go to 'create UCI engine', I have been able to add a second copy of any engine (except the native chessbase engines) by selecting the engine in question from whetever directory you have it stored in so that it appears with its original name in the 'create UCI engine' window. Then just place the curser next to the engine title right in that window and add '-1' or some such annotation. Then click 'save', and that engine is loaded just as if it were a new engine. It will appear in the engine list as a second copy. You don't have to change any parameters. Engines thus loaded will play each other when loaded in the engine match window, but for some reason will not play each other when loaded in the tournament function window.

Please press the answer button under the posting you answer to. Not the one on top of the thread. Thank you.

you can change the settings during installation of an engine I think, if you want to change the options do it during installation and select the name you like to use.

I might be misunderstanding. However If I decide to make a new .uci file from Rybka 3 in Fritz9 I find the file, however in the name field and the owner field I am not able to modify them.

you need to change a parameter, then you can modify the name.

Ok well When I change a parameter, I am able to type something in the name. However If I try to change it to anything else, when I click Ok, i get this message "the name must contain rybka 3." so even rybka 3.01 does not work.

try "Rybka 3 01" with a space.

hmm. I don't use Fritz anymore, maybe some Fritz user can help :)

What's the full name Fritz displays for the normal version? Maybe the name has to be something like Rybka 3.w32 ...

Maybe you can tell me what you use. So I can download it and change it to what I would like.

Which parameter have you changed? Just use that name (after Rybka 3). For example if you changed the contempt play to 50

Rybka 3 ContemptPlay50
