This is the beginning of one of my correspondence games in the Europe championship.

The game is already at move 39 but I post only the beginning of the game.
I still have a small advantage and not 100% sure that it is a draw so
I am probably going to continue but it is probably a draw and rybka seems to be too optimistic for white about evaluating opposite color bishop positions.

I asked my opponent for permission to discuss about the question if I missed something better in the first 25 moves because
I do not believe in the moves 13...h4 and he gave me a permission to do it.

Unfortunately I did not find something better than rybka's moves during the game and I had not enough time to do a lot of analysis
so I did not analyze 23...e4 before my opponent played it and I remember that rybka did not have this move in the pv but maybe I did not give her enough time to analyze.

I wonder what is your opinion.

13...h4 is playable, though it is #5 in my list of playable moves in that position.  The main thing it has going for it is a record of 50% draws.  Black's most common move there is 13...Qc7 (#4) though subjectively I like 13...h4 better.  The moves with the best black prospects appear to be 13...Bh4+ and 13...Rb8 which equalize even though they do not necessarily evaluate best.  Here hundreds of games tell the stronger tale.

From your side of the board I would have preferred to play the conventional 12.Be2 following by 13.O-O (also main line).  12.Na5 is a solid move but seems slightly more drawish.  But this is a minor quibble.  14...Qb8 was a novelty move and looks like a pretty good one, so you didn't miss anything.  14...Qc7 was playable, though for me the deviation would have come at move 15.  Of course, for me the general idea is not to make Hail Mary moves from 22% success positions (though they're satisfying when they work!).

Thanks for your opinion.

I believed that the pawn h4 is weak but unfortunately I found no plan to make progress after capturing it.

Personally , without giving it too much thought, i would skip 16.h3 and go for a more direct b4 , Rc1-d1 and try to create imbalance and try to make the position as imbalanced as i can.
The game took a static root, and positionally black's position is very sound. Especially after Bd8-xa5. OTB black would be fine. I dont know if you can squeeze something out at a corr game, but i really doubt that.

Yes. And also overestimates activity (sometimes, although many times it is in Rybka's benefit). Ofcourse its hard to predict lasting activity and just dynamic play.
