I have the honour of having been invited to play two games in parallel against the Hiarcs Headbangers team, led by captain Dark Horse.
T/C is 48 hours per move; a White & Black games played in parallel.
Both games started yesterday.
Anyone interested can watch them in the following links. But please don't post suggestions for my side in either games as the rules are I play these games without consultation.
I'll post again once we get to an interesting position. I've never played at this time control (or against a team) so I'm very excited about this opportunity. Thanks again to the Headbangers team for setting these two games up.

Not when Highendman plays it ;-)

Well, right now, we're checking all of the side variations to see if there is anyway that black can avoid checkmate. :-)

d6 is ok, the question is what the goal is. I guess the philidor after Nf6/e5 should be enough for a draw, the pirc is ok,too, of course, but can be a bit boring. Only the czech system with 3.c6 is suicide :)
The modern systems can be interesting, too, but I don't know too much about them.
Parent - - By Master Om (Bronze) Date 2009-09-03 02:46
there is no way to refute Pirc. Its a sound opening.

48h/move with newest rybka im sure there is a way to improve on any opening

Chess is Draw . After ALL after 1......d6 its black's Territory now not white's.

im curious as to what yr general (hardware) strategy is? i realize obv u cant give away actual game strategy here, but in general how yr utilizing rybka & yr hardware?  ie IA, IDeA, which engines, etc?

i wonder if success here would convince you to take up corr. chess as a serious hobby.  it seems you have all the tools to be a serious threat there. (or maybe u already do corr. chess, but i was under the impression you'd basically given it up as anything other than a minor hobby till recently)

as others have said i wonder wtf u are planning w/ d6 (assuming its a winning try) :)

In case anyone's interested, we've reached moves 21 in my white game and 18 on the black game. Both games started on September 1st.
If find the position we've reached in both games interesting and with a lot of life, as was the path that led to them.
Like I said in the initial post - please don't post suggestions :)

yeh,we started badly, that is Hiarcs team but are now getting our act together.if you want to challange Rybka team.Turbo is our captain and usually me vice-captain,although if Vytron is available i am quite happy with his leadership.
Parent - - By turbojuice1122 (Gold) Date 2009-10-12 01:16
Turbo would not be able to perform any captaining duties in the near future (i.e. at least the next 8 months). :-)
Parent - - By NATIONAL12 (Gold) Date 2009-10-12 01:22
christ you must be a busy boy, anyway i am sure Vytron would be up for it,or i could do it myself.we had a number of very strong OTB players whom i am sure would love a game.

If all Rybka members playing in the team agree, I'd be up for "captainship", I'd advertise myself as someone that has experience as team captain for 6 games, and a half ;)

I'd be more than happy to play a match vs. your team once the Hiarcs Headbagers match is over.
Parent - - By oudheusa (*****) Date 2009-10-13 05:36
has Rybka team played any games recently?
Parent - - By NATIONAL12 (Gold) Date 2009-10-13 08:03
nope, but it would be good to get together again and take on HEM.
Parent - - By oudheusa (*****) Date 2009-10-13 09:38
agree, would like to wait though until R4 is released. will make it more exciting imo
Parent - By NATIONAL12 (Gold) Date 2009-10-13 09:45
the 2 games on Hiarcs forum could take quite a time yet,so no worries on that score at the moment.
Parent - - By Highendman (****) Date 2009-11-01 13:22
FYI - match over after exactly 2 months.

1.5 : 0.5 in my favour.

Thought not quite the way either team would have liked to reach that result.
The headbangers team other than some small mix-up in the opening phase of their White game (no blunders, just not focusing on a plan or playing the best moves) played both games very precisely.
I hope I gave them some fun with my unsound opening sac in my White game. However they did not fall into any of the traps I laid out for them, and the position on both games is drawn.
If I get to it, I'll load a pgn of both games with relevant parts of my analysis later this week.

Congrats HEM.

Please do post the games.

The decided game HIARCS team lost on time - which is a sorry end for a correspondence game. In the starting post there are links to both games.

Hmmm? Indeed it's a shame :)

When you play a simultaneous 2 game match does the position in one game affect move selection / strategy in the other.  Of course if the goal is to win the match, then it may be wise to head for a draw or at least avoid unnecessary complications in one game if you have a winning advantage in the other game.  Just curious if there are other considerations involved when playing games simultaeously in a match.
Parent - - By NATIONAL12 (Gold) Date 2009-10-12 01:32
lets put it another way.HEM will win neither game and the Hiarcs team is not playing drawing lines.there i have stuck my neck on the line.LOL
Parent - By Highendman (****) Date 2009-10-12 07:04
:)
Parent - - By keoki010 (Silver) Date 2009-10-12 19:10
I think that line is maybe on a guillotine?
Parent - By NATIONAL12 (Gold) Date 2009-10-12 20:17
i must show confidence in my team.lol
Parent - By turbojuice1122 (Gold) Date 2009-10-12 23:53
You're quite wrong, technically speaking: both 1.e4 and 1...c5 after 1.e4 are drawing lines. :-P
