Hi all,

My friend was trying to use Rybka on his machine. He uses Vista. Installation of Rybka was fine. The shortcuts appear on the desktop. When we try to click on the Rybka one (it points to opening.exe) it shows a windows message saying "Application stopped working correctly". Do you know what might be the reason? Is there any log file I could upload so that you could investigate the problem?

Try this.

It worked for me with Chess Assistant 9, which the Rybka GUI is based on.

We've just tried the fix, but it didn't help.
Any other ideas?

The best is to contract Convekta at info@chessok.com.

FWIW - my Chess Openings 2007 & Rybka GUI also fails on Vista. I didn't investigate it but it is not some unique problem. Convekta has probably already handled it and should be able to help you.

Hi all,

I'm afraid I have to reactivate this thread.

Rybka still doesn't work on my friend's Vista machine.

I contacted Convekta Ltd. and was promised that my friend will receive a dvd with a new version of Rybka that has some Vista improvements.
After waiting for more than 6 weeks (!) still no dvd and no message. I contacted them again just to be notified that they don't have any Vista improvements.

It's less than ideal...
