Gregory Kaidanov vs Viswanathan Anand 1987
Another chapter in the book of sacrifices that simply lose in a position that is equal!
Let's see!
21. Bh7 +(?) (by me) Kh7
22. Qh5+ Kg8
23. Ne4 (the best) Bd5 ? (much better is 23. ... Kf8 24. Rh3 g6 25. Ng6 fg6 26. Qg6 -+ e.t.c the attack of white evaporates !)
24. Rh3 Kf8 ?? with mate in three
after 24 ... g6 25. Ng6 fg6 26. Qg6+ Bg7 =

Just at a quick glance, I wouldn't spend more than a few seconds on 21. Bxh7+.
Vas
Vas
I would play 21.Bxh7+ Kxh7 22.Qh5+ Kg8 23.Qxf7+, and then when black replies Rxf7, I would go "DOH!!!!!!" and remind myself why chess is not for humans ;-)
i would play Qd1 to g4
I would play 21.Qh5 and after 21...g6 I would sacrifice my knight and bishop and then I would realise that the rook on the 7th rank is still there :)
My brain would explode before I made a decision.
Yes, it is Bxh7, with the idea 21......Kxf7 22. Qh5 Kg8 23. Ne4 Bd5 24. Rh3 Kf8 25. Qxf7 Rxf7 26. Ng6+
but: 23. ... Bd5 is a bad move, better is Kf8 and I do not see enough compensation for the piece.

Hi,
Acccording to Deep Fritz 10, Rybka 2.3 and Shredder 10.1, it is not good to take on h7. But many other programs do not like Bxh7.
Of course, Kf8 is a very strong defense move. Much better than 23. Bd5. White attack dissapears.
Regards,
Gambitto.
