I know that Internet chess cheaters are unavoidable in the internet, but which chess playing site has the least of these chess cheaters?

And I'll go with FICS again, since they monitor games to check for possible cheaters (I think it has to do with Nukebot) and they are caught and banned in a reasonable time.

So, if you want a higher certainty that you are playing fair, just put on your formula 'manual accept' and check who are you going to play, if it's an old account the chances it's cheating is really low (unless suddenly he decided to cheat), so just avoid playing against new accounts.

CCC has to be the fairest chess site :) .

I would go for Playchess as ICC has loud abrasive foulmouths who would make Graham Banks or Terry McCracken hide under the table.

Sorry, but I have never been to CCC. Can you post a link to that site. I am just curious :-).

CCC is also known as Talkchess.

Hard to say, but ICC is where the best players frequent, and it does have cheating detecting software.

Every chess server has it's fair share of cheats, there's no way to get around that.

I quit paying for memberships due to this fact, I only play as a guest, unfortunately ICC discontinued guest accounts last August.

I use to play there all the time, finding the best opposition there...I've played FM's, IM's and even a GM, but they rarely played guests.

I've won and lost games to some of the strongest players in the world.

Playchess runs anti-cheating algorithms and its procedure is visible you can always see people stripped of their rating for cheating. ICC runs cheat-detection software? How come some clown with an engine was able to play Short and fool him into thinking that that was Fischer? On analysis those moves matched an engines. Had ICC been running cheat-detection software, that guy would not have played there.

I tried to login as a guest at ICC and it says guest account suspended. The last time I played on ICC 7-day trial, some guy wanted to retract his blunder, when I disallowed him he lost the game and followed me around insulting me. He would also send me game invites and then not move. At least on playchess you can play as a guest and if the guy loses, he does not follow you around insulting you.

Presumably because it was a guest and Short was an idiot. They don't check games played by anonymous members (and, back when they were allowed to play, guests).

You could have done "+censor someguy" (recommended) and/or "complain someguy Look at what he said after I beat him!" (depending on how rude he was).

Playing on ICC has always been wonderful. Playchess is ok but it seems very hard to talk to players, and i dont like the interface as much. I have not played too mnay players I thought where (C)heating.

Hi,
For what it is worth lol I think the playchess server has a much cleaner interface with better graphics etc ... Both sites have idiots. My pet hate are players who are in a lost position and then just will not resign or move and you have to let there time run out or lose the game yourself.

Regards

BlitzIn, the official ICC client sends list of processes running to the server. Admins know if a player was running other chess software (e.g., chess databases, engines) during play. Also they know if the player changed focus to some of that apps. This and other facts makes me think ICC is far more strict detecting cheaters.

By the way, I prefer playchess because it is far more liberal. In ICC there's a lot of official censorship. I hate that. For me is acceptable that a player censors another player, but, admins censoring players is against free speech.

Chess Assistant Club detects cheating by capturing the "Screen" after it detects suspicious processes. I discovered the image files of my screen left after failure to uplodad when my internet connection broke.
