mmh, showing all the 8*8 squares would be too much, but I now notice that the board is a bitr crippled due to some changes, so I will fix that (you will see a part of the board which is about 4*4)

Chessbase has also a 4*4 board and not a complete one in their logo...

What does the yellowish circle with a pawn symbolise? :)

Does it symbolise Rybka conquering the world of chess or what?

when the icon is small the checks are not visible. Make it more intense so that they more visible with clarity. Also more detailed fish would be better. It looks too simple in details now.

that's ok. The logo will rarely be that big and most of the time the small logo will be used.

Also the little squares are just an unimportant detail. If you don't really see it it's ok.

Hi Felix,

in my opinion, the shark-in-a-bowl composition is not an improvement. Without bowl I liked it much better.

Although it's technically well done, there is some lack of wit and meaning. Here Rybka is wether dynamic, nor sophisticated, nor clever, innovative or humorous.

It should be something, which one associates with the spirit and virtues of Rybka 3.

Which image shall be represented by the logo?

If it's a shark, why not an clever-aggressive one - swimming through a chessboard, sure of victory, pushing pawns aside!?

I admit, that it is difficult to create a simple but meaningful, unique logo! ;-)

Will a gauss-graph suffice? An excellent program deserves an excellent logo!

Hm, and the bowl... To me it stimulates some claustrophobic feelings... Counteracting the idea of freedom and conquering-the-world. ;-)

On first look I'd agree about the bowl being not so good.

Bowl says I hope there is someone to frequently change the water or else that goldfish, excuse me, that shark is gonna die.

No room for the shark to move around in that bowl either.

That's just me on a first look - but as far as artistry goes the bowl looks cool.

With the orange color and the round design it looks to much like the Firefox logo. Try having the two next to each other in the task bar. They will not be easy to separate or identify.

I don't think so. I have them next to each other on my computer and they are quite different. only the theme has some similarities.

How would it look if the blue circle was kept like you have it now but any indication of it being any kind of container wasn't indicated.

Like you have the logo now but with just the bluish color around the globe. No water level or container opening indicated.

Sorry but the first one looks like a spacemans helmet from an Austin Powers film :)

Best I've seen is the ChessCentre (UK) logo.

Honestly, it terribly looks like you totally ripped the base design from he FireFox logo.  I'd trash it, and make something original.  This is prime commercial software, not freeware or something that you expect such blatant usage of other IP, and claiming 'fair usage' for your legal leg to stand on.

the firefox thing is also nothing completely new. Anyway, there the fox is at the bottom, this fish is going around the globe. I don't think the connection to Firefox is too strong. Not even similar I think.

I think the logo needs to be more reflective of what the word Rybka means, which is little fish.  Therefore, it should not be a conventional fish (i.e., shark) use to offer picturesque of what the word Rybka truly means.

I'd still pick this logo over the shark one any day!

Try getting rid of the orange globe, you don't need it. (or get rid of the aquarium and make the orange globe an aquarium.)

You need a little more than a rainbow, Felix-where is the earth and the sky and the mud below- (forgive me I'm getting carried away) :-) 

Make it more reflective of our ecological perspective- a round globe within the bowl an arch fish in PERSPECTIVE leaping arched back out of the ocean-

a rainbow above spanning the globe- that was my suggestion. In transparency RYBKA 3

This logo reminds me the date of October 21.
I'm terrified !
The tail of this shark (maded by strangelets-of course) has the origin in Geneve. You must dot this fact.Seems for me the logo of Firefox/Rybka 3 fated for another universe.

I'm not quite happy with he head and the backfin of the shark. The head with visible mouth, as in one of the earlier draughts seems better to me. The backfin should, imho, be a bit bigger and more cleanly triangular.

But apart from these small imperfections, if they're not a matter of personal taste in the first place, I think it's very good!

And you've made the tailfin more realisitic as well; didn't realise you were such a shark-expert!

This way it really looks a small shark!

Yes, this is really much better! If it wasn't for the mouth, I'd raise my marks from very good to excellent.

The more I look at it, the better I like this. In comparison the fish on the previous design looks really plump and silly.

Whatever you're going to change next, keep these lines, they're very fluid, elegant and sort of natural-looking (as in the very first proposal, with the dark pawn and the yellow shark).

Perhaps, to attain maximum harmony, the breast-fin should be a little less sharp.

And, another thought, I don't think it really needs to be in a darker colour. For that matter, just colour the entire shark in one shade of gray, maybe a little bit darker than now, and you will gain in simplicity and in expressiveness!
