Hi Harvey,
Phil told me his Crafty book is better than your Hiarcsbook.
Is this true??

Only because as you know anything that comes from Phil contains a virus called sn95g5 that is deadly if you load it on your machine!

Hire Gary Kasparov to make one for you

that actually IS possible. Find a collection of Kasparov's games on the internet (there are many collections, containing thousands of games). With whatever program you have to do that -like chess assistant, chessbase, fritz etc- filter them, you probably would want the games of "mature" kasparov (I mean the world champion period), and the ones that he won, and make the filtered games a new pgn file. It's really simple. Then follow the book-making steps in again whatever program you're using (probably one of the above). They should have the necessary info in their manual.

secondly, there's another powerful opening book called sheebar. you can download it from the download section of this site:

No book is perfect ... You start with a book and then years later after playing thousands of games and wasting countless hours book editing you get a half decent book but book editing is a never ending work in progress

And then the engine for which your book is tuned gets discontinued or a different top dog arises with a totally different personality and you can start over from scratch.
