I am running Windows on a modern computer.
I purchased the download version of Rybka and Chess Openings 2007, but did not get a serial number. After 3 emails to Convekta I managed to get my serial number.
I installed the program (cco2007dnld.exe) and it asked for my serial number to register the product. I entered my serial number as provided and clicked the registration button.
It then goes away and thinks telling me that it is trying to connect to the server, but fails.
I have tried this many times, I have re-installed the program, but nothing changes.
I have emailed Convekta, but they don't reply.
Can anyone tell me how to get Rybka working, please?
By the way, I am still waiting for the delivery of my free 3,100,00 database that was promised and my free gift(after purchasing 4 programs from Convekta). Is this typical of Convekta or am I just unlucky?
I am starting to regret my purchases and wish that I had just upgraded Chessbase and Fritz!!

Try to keep in mind that convekta support is half a world away. I know they take a lot of abuse here, but they have always responded to me within a day or two. Also keep in mind, they have other ways to contact them other than email. Such as ICQ, which i have used to contact them with success in the past. As far as your problem goes, I'm no expert, but i would try to download the program again. You may have had a problem downloading it the first time.

cco2007.exe sounds like your missed Chess Openings 2007. Rybka is usually something like 'Rybka v2.3.1.mp.w32.exe' and it must be installed under your UCI compatible Chess application.

aside from running Rybka in the Chess Openings 2007 GUI (which you'll need to get straightened out with Convekta), you can also run her in another UCI-compliant user interface. Have a look here for details:

Thank you for your help. I may not be able to use the Chess Openings 2007 front end as yet, but at least now I can see how Rybka works.

As I am not a specialist on installing of Rybka and Chess Openings 2007 I can only advise you now to try activating through e-mail (as I know there should be option whether activate through the Internet or through e-mail). Then you should send special e-mail directly to Convekta (you will get instructions while activating)
Tomorrow morning I will study this issue and give you more detailed answer.

As I said in my previous post you should choose activation through e-mail. The letter to info@chessok.com will be formed automatically - you need just to send it and wait for reply.

I am encouraged that Convekta staff monitor this forum and assured now that someone from Convekta has replied to my request for help.
