Vas
Thank you , that's gonna be very interesting
Will there be any chat available, or should we make some discussion threads here to go along with the popcorn and beer?
Popcorn and beer is ok, was thinking to have some rybka and chips myself though.
It's past time and the above link leads nowhere
nothing new under the sun --> bugs in Rybka, bad support by Convekta and empty websites
You are right. I also get the 404 page not found error. Seems like Convekta/Vas/Rybka are competiting Chessbase in the wrong field: Incompetence ...
Mike
Mike
Mike,
to reach the level of incompetence it will take Vas/Convekta lightyears. If I think on the god playing man on the CB server (Mr. incompetence in person = Stickles), Vas and Convekta will never reach this level.

I agree, but I only stated that they now compete in this field with them. Many people were already p***ed off by the idea of handicaps, especially piece odds - and then en plus a blank webpage??? Why couldn´t they ask an admin of ICC to relay it? Relaying always functioned properly on ICC.

Mike
see here, http://216.25.93.108/forum/viewtopic.php?topic_view=threads&p=102178&t=12137 --> they will start a little later but announced it only in another forum.
Actually I disagree on the bugs in Rybka part: the new Rybka versions do not have any more bugs than the new version of any engine. That happens a lot. And those engines have been around for quite a few years and have mostly stabilized.
When taking into account the short amount of time Rybka is with us at all, I'd say it's surprising (to me, as a programmer), that Rybka does not have a LOT more bugs...
I'd have to agree about Convekta. They'd better pull it together and snap out of the non-service oriented coma that their in, or they're just going to hurt Rybka a lot (and consequently, themselves...).

You are right. Compared to buggy Fritz, Rybka is god of engine chess, but if we don´t complain about the existing bugs, Vas wouldn´t even know that these problems exist - and also in contrary to Chessbase Vas takes it really serious and works on them. Now that the tablebase issue could at least be eliminated, Rybka has now a good grip in the engine market - although there is always enough room for improvements. If it was only Convekta I would doubt that we will benefit from further improvements, but Vas still seems to be the guarant of constant improvements and I was certainly impressed that he was able to put out a better version so fast after seeing that 2.3 didn´t meet the expectations. And if I have understood it correctly, there will be a thoroughly tested update version (2.3.2) to end the 2.x series. So all in all we got a very fair deal for our money.
Mike
Mike
Rybka Team and Conveckta Please send Rybka 2.3 upgrade for Fritz UCI as promised, when you gave the 2.2 pathway.
We are very impressed with your high standards and values-excluding our untimely upgrades-
#is 32231-18001-00671-14868-55771 for 2.3 upgrade with our purchase of 2.1 UCI cd from the London Chess Centre...
You have my email under capatal...Please expedite! and Thank you for your prompt attention to this (minor matter?)

Can´t tell. There was only a small announcement on the CCC forum by Vasik that they start a little later today - for whatever that means ...
Mike
Mike
That post was from early this am and does not indicate they will start late. The link given is to the above and does not work!
"We'll be starting a bit later today."
That´s the quote from CCC.
Now it´s almost 6pm here in central europe and nobody seem to know anything - except that the provided link doesn´t work. If there has been a delay, we should have been informed by now.
No good start ...

"a bit later today" refers to the fact that post was made a around 4am this morning. There is nothing to indicate it will start LATE.
That link just re-directs back TO THIS FORUM.What is going on we need update.

Mike I meant the link to CCC with the announcement from Vas. The link to the match does not work here too
Perhaps Mr. Stickles is the TD
YAY, it's UP!!!!!
Now if I only knew if the page will refresh automatically or if I am hired as button presser for constantly manually doing this ...
Mike
Mike
I think there will be no automatic refresh.
Keep in mind it is software from crappy Chessbase

Yes, I saw the "generated by Fritz" and nearly vomited.
Besides, I see as information on the screen:
Player A = New game
Player B = R2.3.1 MP Ehlvest
No moves so far. 1 hrs and 10 mins late.
Not very promising.

I think Ehlvest offred a draw in the start position and TD Stickles walked in the room
Now we have a start position. 1 hour late!
Hi -
we're just now getting started.
The games will also be broadcast over Convekta's server. Please see the (edited) post above for instructions re. how to connect.
Larry's handle there is "Larry_Kaufman". I'm also there now (as "VRajlich").

Seems the broadcast has crashed now? No content anymore, just an empty page...
Firefox works fine, however it claims Rybka is playing Kaufman, Larry!
You guys should follow the instructions and install the software and go to the site. It's a good place to play chess also.
If you have the Chess Assistant software it´s already built in. Just click on internet and "connect to the Internet Chess Assistant Club".
Mike
Mike
Exactly!
I don´t see the name "Larry_Kaufmann" in the player´s list.
