I am looking at a new quadcore computer.

I am wondering 1. would windows XP 64 or Vista 64 be better for Rybka?

Also is there a huge benefit to rybka with 2 or 4 gigs of RAM?

Anything else I should know?

Thanks guys!

XP 64 must be enough, I've only heard Vista users having problems (Sometimes problems not related to Rybka, but if you're going to do something else in the computer I'd go with XP.)

No. The benefit is around 2-10 ELO points.

A suggestion of 5 ELO for each hash-doubling has been made.

5 is between 2 and 10 ;)

Really, it hasn't been measured, but it would not surprise me if it was half of it (2.5 ELO) or twice (10 ELO) so I thought that giving a range was the best option.

I wasn't suggesting you were wrong, just adding a link to the discussion. Maybe I should have quoted (and/or responded to) the original rather than your reply.
