:-P Haha, I guess I don't know some of the subtleties of FEN notation--since I'm currently without a chess engine on the computer I'm using, I modified the FEN manually.
You can use the diagram from the previous move and make the moves on the board (click on a piece and then on the destination square). The FEN string above the diagram is updated automatically.
wow... i didn't know that.... cool. :)
I did when he showed it to us a couple of months ago, but then I forgot. :-)

No comment from the Warriors. :-)
No comment from us either. Without giving anything away I found Rybkas evaluations of the lines after the alternative Qa8 quite strange. eg. 19.Re1 d5 20.exd5 Bxd5 21.h3!? Here Rybkas evaluation is about -0.13 and if left alone stays with h3 - when you continue playing the moves and leaving it for about an hour after each one 21...Rc8 22.b5 Bd6 - up to here it still shows -0.13 and suggesting white should play 23.Bg5 and the pv shows Qb7 as the likely black reply. But if you play Bg5 on the board it instantly switches to a different move showing a much better eval for black.
no comment about your AN as well
sigh. This is about a move you did not play. But I guess none of you guys want to talk about chess.
we did reject the move, but if we start discussing why,it may give some of our methods of handling AN away
sigh again. maybe other Rybka users can say if they have the same problems with infinite analysis using Rybka.
thats up to them,we do not tell players what they can and what they cannot say,we just expect them to use their common sense.
It does not even have to be a member of your team. Just someone else who has Rybka - I am not asking you to reveal any of your top secret analysis just if you get the same behaviour from Rybka.
open a new thread in main forum,i am sure forum members will discuss the matter with you.
another big sigh.
Oh hell, aren't we still in book?
Wow - telling me this may result in the teams secret analysis methods being compromised :-)
I think that without giving away much, I can reveal that we have seen some very, very strange behavior from Zappa.
I think we are probably all seeing that when thinking to great depths the engines will find some great moves but without a bit of prodding by us mere mortals they can miss some quite obvious stuff.
Yes that's why no serious correspondence player does this.
It's not like you let the engine for 4 days to analyze and then play the move, that's amateur behavior. It's much more difficult than this and much more complicated. And much more effective of course.
Of course having Kullberg's computers to see everything helps i think. :-P

I've done quite some analyses with Deep Shredder 10 and with Deep Junior. I've often noticed this behaviour. Sometimes obvious errors are only recognised as such after you have brought the position in which they become possible actually on the board! Therefore, starting an engine with some position and then let it run for some hours to see if it comes up with something maybe fun (?) but it has nothing to do with analysing!
I agree. A good engine finds good moves with short times <60 seconds, that's why I don't find the results of longer engine engine tests not that interesting for practice. rapid time controls should reflect the time used during real analysis best.
I disagree.
Engines are used to analyze position for many hours and not for short times in correspondence games.
<60 seconds can be also used for analysis but not everybody is using it.

> sigh again. maybe other Rybka users can say if they have the same problems with infinite analysis using Rybka.
I've seen it but I've also seen other chess engines doing this so it's not only Rybka.
It's not only Rybka; there are some things that I have not seen before, though this might be because nobody has really used engines before to reach depths as high as what we're reaching.
Most engines I've tried think it's about even, or that black has a slight advantage. Still, engines aren't to be 100% relied on, and it's all still to play for!
Hey man, you should use Hiarcs - Hiarcs is the engine that shows the best evals for black.
It looks like Hiarcs team didn't rely on Hiarcs engine ;)

Probably a very stupid question: is Rybka black, or white?
[White "Hiarcs Headbangers"]
[Black "Rybka Warriors"]
That probably makes it a stupid question. Or the fact you could've found the answer with ctrl+f. :)

Thanks. And remember allways to be patient with animals, children and the mentally retarded ... :o)##
In this case I'm happy to play on the black side ;) :)
has this game stopped or where can i see the next moves of the game?
You can expect our next move in a few hours :)
aah good
