Game 1 was promising for this tournament. Perfect timing (fast play in the opening) and secure play in the endgame from Dzindzi. It will become interesting, let us see ...

Rybka is using more time now, as Vas announced.

The version that played today was not using some anti-human or contempt? Too much exchanging of pieces.

It's the latest Rybka. The anti-human stuff is very similar to what played against Benjamin, although the values are a bit different (since draws have value again).

Thank you Vas for that info.It sems Dzindzi had a lot of practice in preparing for Rybka. It would be foolish if he didn't.Will 3.0 play differently from 2.3.2a with different contempt settings and outlook settings? Will there be any drastic change that is noticable I mean when settings are offset from 2.3.2a this is probably a broad question. So far is 3.0 playing as expected judging from this first game?

what's the advantage of going through the whole knight maneuvour first moves... wouldn't it be easier to use 'set up' in whichever GUI you're using for rybka and just remove the pawn in that manner?

Got me a little confused at first when I looked at the notation :)

By doing the knight maneuver, they ensure that they are playing chess (Some people argued that it was not chess because the starting position has 16 pawns, so what they do is start from the classical chess position and arrange the first moves so black loses a pawn, but they still begin from the original chess positions so people can't say it's not chess, I think.)

By reading the replies below, it seems my assumption was wrong, and this has nothing to do with perceiving the games as real chess or not.

You can just say that this is one extra benefit of entering a move sequence.

It could be because some GUIs have trouble with a starting position that has a missing pawn.

Yes, when I just remove a pawn the special opening book doesn't work. For the internet display I could just set up the position, I would just have to learn how to do this.
