When I use IDeA and minimax is invoked, either manually through the Manage menu or when stopping IDeA, minimax never ends. I have to close Aquarium to end minimaxing. With no completion of minimax in a project, I don't get IDeA evals or N(umber) populated.
Any ideas for a fix--short of reinstalling--to this behavior that destroys IDeA?
In order to close the project and end minimaxing, I have to use Windows' ctrl-alt-del  to stop Aquarium.
I also notice that one or both of the "infinite analysis" folders (in the "Trees" subfolder) has balooned to 1.72 GB.

That has happened to me when my project tree is corrupt.  I've usually had to revert to a backup.

Pawnslinger advocated occasionally deleting the IA tree, and I used to do this as well, but now I use Engine-specfic-project-specific trees to keep any of them from growing out of control.

In other words each engine for each project writes to it's own tree.

This is a good approach. Do you mean that you have an "infinite_analysis" tree for each project; and if so, how do you create and link it to the project?
I already have each project writing to its own tree.

I may have solved the problem as follows. 1) Using "Tree/Verify"  in the Tree menu in Database pane is not as thorough as using
2) External Programs/Tree Utilities/Check Trees/Check Default folders.

1) kept showing no problem trees. But 2) showed 6 corrupted trees. That was a big first step to recovery. Nevertheless, I still had to delete 1 tree (and the .xml project) that did not show as corrupted but still would not minimax properly.

Now it looks like I'm OK and won't have to uninstall/reinstall Aqr 2020. Thanks to Ghengis and Mattchess for good ideas. Another one I will implement: periodically copy \Data\Config\ to a safe location when I know that Aqr is working well.

Over to the right in engine setting is a box called Infinite Analysis Results.
Click the blue <default> link, choose the path and name the file Anything_You_Want.aqt.

Then run the engine long enough to produce at least one evaluation and it will create a tree with that name where you told it to.
After that you can add it to your tree configuration like you would add any other engine evaluation column.

If one has 20 IDeA projects, then one will have to create 20 new "infinite_analysis" files and add each one to the tree configuration.
Here is where it might get unwieldy. As one is working with each project in the IDeA pane, one will want to see only the i.a. eval for that project. That would seem to be difficult to do.

It is a bit unwieldy but not quite that bad.

I have only 2 tree configurations, one for Black and the other for White. (Because my repertoire moves are stored as tree colors).

The trees contain all of the project-specific IA trees and I display the currently appropriate ones using the check boxes for what columns are displayed.

Not saying it's the best way, but that's what I do.

A very interesting approach that has the benefit of using exactly the right "infinite_analysis" tree for whatever game you are in. However, one has to be as IDeA smart as you to figure out the check-box technique so as to display only the right ia tree eval.

Use the "Tree Utilities" in the Configuration Pane. Under the Tree Tools there is "Multiple Minimax". This gets your tree minimaxed.
Have fun!

P.S. The Tree Utilities will fail, when Aquarium has access to the tree you want to perform an operation to it. After you have started the Tree Utils you can close Aquarium and the Tree Utilities can do their magic.
