I have been looking for thematic ideas in various positions by running Stockfish versus Komodo battles with both engines reduced a little in strength to promote variety of moves.

Stockfish shows tablebase hits from 6 man Syzygy tables I have installed on the local drive, but doesn't seem to use the information at all in engine vs. engine competitions. Komodo reports no tablebase hits at all in engine versus engine games.

Stockfish just lost a rook and knight vs rook endgame where it was constantly hitting the tablebase but also providing evaluations of +0.91, which makes no sense since the position was either lost or drawn by force.

I guess I will import the game into Chessbase to see what happened, but shouldn't have to be doing that.

Has anyone been able to get the tablebases to work properly in engine versus engine competitions?

Nalimov is distance to mate, use that for finding a won position.

Set the paths...to the folder your tablebases are in.

Yes, I did that.

Stockfish is seeing the tablebase but not using it to decide moves and not reporting the tablebase evaluation.
In the game mentioned above it said +0.91/d43/15s/TB:2k on move 109.

My interpretation of this is 2,000 tablebase hits and an evaluation of 0.91.
There were 5 pieces on the board, 2 Kings, 2 Rooks, and 1 Knight.
I have the 6 man tablebases installed so the evaluation should have been either drawn by force or lost by force (for Stockfish that had the lone rook).
A +0.91 evaluation makes no sense at all.

Do you only have the 6-men or also the 5 (and 3-4 man)?.
If not, that might explain it

I thought the 6 man tablebase included the lesser ones, so maybe that's it.

They are separate downloads, so that will probably explain the issue you had :-)

If you look in your tablebase folder you should be able to see what is in there and if you have files for different quantities of pieces
