The price of SSD products has fallen and M.2 devices are now available.

I am lowly accumulating parts for a new dedicated chess box to run open source contests as well as to host downloads.

Intel has the lowest cost per GB but their products at 2GB/s are not the fastest out there.

I am looking at 2TB units which afford enough room for EGTB etc

The price of RAM has fallen though the floor as 8GB sticks are now more affordable than every. This means equipping a chess box with enough RAM is not of material concern.

What I am not so sure about is how well Chess runs on Ryzen processors.

I am not aware of any complaints (negative posts) anywhere.

or wait until Oct./Dec. this year: https://www.techradar.com/news/amd-ryzen-4000

Thanks, not here often as work is demanding

While world+dog is waiting for Ryzen 4000 I was considering more hard disks

hard disks are cheap and after some failures i wanted to less in need to download stuff again

so I have an old machine, stuffed with hard disks
