Up Topic Rybka Support & Discussion / Aquarium / Aquarium trees only go up to depth 63

It's been a while since I asked for any help here. But is there any chance of increasing the tree moves to at least a depth of 99 if 100+ is a problem? Engines now reach depths more than 63 easily depending on the position and it happens a lot more now than ever.

Often I end up continuing a correspondence game and I don't know which move was the one with the highest depth since several moves in my tree will all say 63.

Not sure if this is related or not but occasionally I get a popup error in Aquarium saying Can't Save to Database. I can click OK to close it but after a while, while still analyzing it comes back again.

Perhaps Aquarium stores the depth as a 6 bit integer, thus it would be not be able to count beyond 63. A possible workaround would be to insert a  negative figure, say -37, in the change analysis depth box in the advanced engine options. Then actual depths up to 100 would be recorded, though displayed as 37 less.

Thanks, but that wouldn't be a good workaround. Aquarium should just fix this. It shouldn't be too hard for a skilled programmer.
