Just wondering whether Bxb5 was a 'better' move.
Also .. following you re : presearch on TC.

Now we are being advised NOT to visit hospitals unless situation is dire.

Please feel free to ask/PM such questions to me... i heard little girls in the back of Mexican backyards make already fun of some of black's choices, you MUST(!) finish him(?) off!

As you know...

Uly

S)hould have played a more ambitious Sicilian
U)ltimately will have to pay for 4...Qa5+??
C)ould have done something for king safety
K)ings-knight is not his only other weak piece
S)ilently(!) will drop to his knees quickly

I had Nxb5 as best.

> Also .. following you re : presearch on TC.

The scariest thing about presearch is that it's the first time I'm afraid someone on big hardware could just set it to the right number and let it run unassisted for 12 hours and produce a better move than I can

With an idea as simple as using MultiPV to find the right move to search and then switching to SinglePV on it to go as deep as possible!

The time where the best thing I can do is sitting at the root and wait is getting near...

> Be well Uly and safe.

Yeah, your browser might be overzealous because it can't tell the difference between those and bad links, but they're okay.

> Presearch = a very very good idea = could even give my collapsing brain a rest.

The problem with what has been released is that it doesn't go high enough, presearch is limited to 1000 and if you're going to let it sit for longer you need to go higher than that. MikeB seems to have one that fixed this so see if you can run it, I'm waiting for the source.

Just looking -without analysis- at the position after move 14 i'm surprised white didn't get more out of this (what looked like a) decent attacking opportunity. :fat:

At least playing with MikeB's tweaks or Uly's [legendary!] compiles has one advantage: Should you not win, just claim a bug and force Uly (with win-odds) to prove that white must win. (:yell:)

What do you expect? Wannacoder's, who can't develop a "Hello world!"-program, leave alone a simple chess engine, tweak world's best engine and claim -untested- they have created a master piece of their own... even worse are those doing so and then claiming years later a bug instead their own stupidity/lame-&lazyness ruined their chess game...

Not as confused as Antares! :yell:

Did he really go and say we had a flawless relationship? Because if you go and see our messages from before he disappeared for years you'd see we were at each other's throats already, I was accusing him of not playing his best chess, he was accusing me of... not advancing opening theory?? The Bettina thing was just the last drop that broke the glass, the glass was already full of water...

But I know how to make him pay, I'll make him wait for my moves as much as he made me wait for his... seems fair. By the time the Antares vs Uly game is over he's gonna be older than you!

Oh, thanks for explaining.

We did never get anywhere close to a friendship, our rivalry was just too high for that. We couldn't even agree on what was a beautiful woman!

We were never Sherlock and Watson, he was always my Moriarty.

The strangest thing is that your discussions with him always circle around me, and your discussions with me keep circling about him. Has this become an obsessive subject?

You know about recent events that have affected my life. What I have learned is that people would have remained alive if they made different decisions about it, so perhaps the secret of a long life is making the right decisions. There comes a point where we're in situations that are outside of our control, and from that point on our decisions don't matter, but like in chess one "blundered" to get on them.

The difference is that in life someones there's no way to know if one has already blundered...

More later .. I thought I was at Death's door yesterday with a severe case of heartburn - sometimes masquerading as a heart attack.
Since its been determined that I'm immortal it was .. just heartburn.

Just avoid being beheaded, burnt alive, stabbed in the heart, shot by a silver bullet, and all kinds of explosions. Just in case...

I trust you/family are holding up with the recent unwelcome experience and also coping with the virus issue.
Our trips to the supermarkets have always been on a weekly basis so no change - not overstocking just our normal requirements.
Going berserk has a downside - some in the UK are throwing away unopened date expired foodstuffs - what a waste.
Those people should be put in stocks with their arses hanging out.

We try.

> coping with the virus issue.

It hasn't affected us at all (other than the ridiculous price some things have gotten to, like eggs getting almost as pricey as meat  - well, I'll just eat meat then), but it's still scary seeing businesses closing nearby.

> some in the UK are throwing away unopened date expired foodstuffs - what a waste.

The experience around here was getting those cereal boxes where you buy 2 and get a third one for free, but at the rate we eat them we can't finish the third one before the expired date. After getting food poisoning from that we now better let it go to waste than risk it...

I'm sending a conditional here:

MY MOVE:

@Witchy: Why does that Mexican parfait get friendly smalltalk while it get a wolf picture?

I guess it's time to do this...

31...Ra8 {Draw offer.}

It doesn't look like an endgame any of us can lose...

Thanks for the game Max!

I was wondering if you'd be interested in the Karmageddon challenge that Antares turned down:

1. Na3 Nc6 2. Nb1 Rb8 3. Na3 Ra8 4. Nb1 Nb8 5. Na3 Nh6 6. Nb1 Rg8 7. Na3 Rh8 8. Nb1 Ng8

rnbqkbnr/pppppppp/8/8/8/8/PPPPPPPP/RNBQKBNR w KQ -

This is a starting position where black can't castle. But if the game ends in a draw black wins! So no matter what happens, one of us would end beating the other.

If you're interested I'd like to know what side would you like to play?

> I was wondering if you'd be interested in the Karmageddon challenge that Antares turned down:

I didn't turn it down!

Its just on hold because:
a) Like in our other game, i wanted to wait out your Silenorona-phase.
b) You simply switched sides in the subject (=you tried to cheat - yes, you can not beat me over the chess-board) - without further notice.
c) You never answered to my endgame-pieces/draw-odds suggestions.
