There is a chess puzzle site called Arves:
http://www.arves.org/
which has a very large collection of puzzles.

I have analyzed about 27000 of them, and of those, about 7000 resolve to checkmate.

For those for which a checkmate is found, it may not be the shortest mate if the mate is more than 10 full moves deep because I do not have a reliable mate solver that is good for all sorts of deep mates.

Hi! Last week I analyzed almost all positions from Arves. I looked for hard ones. Some of them are very interesting and difficult for engines. I added them to my test suite, which I'm planning to release probably next time.

Hi,

that would be great.

Hi!
I noticed I said next time, but I wanted to type next month. The test is completed in 95%. I must delete some old and too easy positions and do last corrections. I feel the release will be quite a big event for people who like this kind of test suites. The final version will have about 900 positions being the most complete test available. I want it to be as good as possible.

Here are 17609 analyzed Arves positions.  You can compare your analysis with what is in the file.

In the file, the field c3 contains the best move suggested from Arves (at least for those positions where my scraper could collect it properly).
Some percentage of them are not solved, and there are a few positions where the suggested solution is not correct.
There are quite a number of them where I have not analyzed them deeply enough for serious study, also.

It is a small collection, compared to Yacpdb, or the Pdb server collections.

I'll take a closer look for these positions later.

How many positions do Yacpdb or Pdb server collection have if you say 17609 is small amount?

I have 345000 from Yacpdb
http://www.yacpdb.org/#static/home

I have 444899 from Pdb
https://pdb.dieschwalbe.de/index.jsp

There are, of course, lots of overlap positions that are in two or three of the collections.

You used to be able to download Yacpdb in one big block, but I do not know how to do that anymore.

You can easily download all of Pdb (it's in a FoxPro database), but the format is strange, so I had to run several programs on the data to get it into a format I could use.

Thanks. I didn't know about these sites. I see I will have something to do next year.
