Could not find anything in the help file about the different colors of tasks.
Grey are the processed ones and green the ones currently being processed
but what is the difference between the red ones and the yellow ones and
why do some red tasks take extra long?

gray = finished tasks
green = currently analyzed tasks
white = infinite tasks
red = manual tasks (tasks that you scheduled for analysis manually)
yellow = automatic tasks (automatic prolongation)

Thanks, we are slowly getting there. Just three more questions.
What is the difference between light green and dark green?

What do a2, a4 and u2 mean?
And lastly, why do the red tasks spawn fresh red tasks?
and then 1 minute later it looked like this:

Dark green are events you have manually requested, i.e. Custom Task, or Alternative. The "u" events are part of a compound task, i.e. a Custom Task with more than 1 goal, such as the new custom strategies... they generate extra events, because they are compound tasks, not a simple list of alternatives.
