Next Preliminary test.
50 games 25minutes 10sec ponder off  2048 hash. SugaR XPrO 1.3 x64 popcnt vs asmFishw_2017-08-02_bm12
Silversuite pgn. ( I think on the 3rd I intend to purchase Houdini and Komodo   ) This isn't cutting it! Stockfish 8, SugaR, asmFishW  they are all drawing and seems to be a waste of time.

I'll give it until game 25 to inspire me to continue on -if the draws continue...

I need to format my hard drive any how -it seems slowly being eaten away! I tried updating to 1703 told I was missing some file from version 1500 something? I'm just going to format and put back win 7 pro and see what happens next.

It should be possible to repair the operating system from the Windows disk thus retaining all of your installed software. i.e the registry is preserved. However, if the hard disk drive is corrupting the likelihood is it will happen again when you may be better off replacing the hard drive. Reformatting that wipes everything seems a drastic measure to me if this is your first shot at addressing the issue.

Have you tried the error checking option for the drive that will try and patch damaged sectors?

I'm running a memory test now and hoping that that pans out okay!

What an odyssey! I could not format any hard drive to recognize windows "any" hard drive. It kept claiming that the drive was formatted to another encryption. Windows 7 disc would get to a certain point in its downloading of files than say it had to restart and when it did it would start over in downloading files only to state that it could not download to c:\ any files. My SSD was not recognized any longer. I finally found a program that could clock its way in and format the drive. Even than the process failed when I put the Microsoft 7 disc in same thing "this drive has been formatted to ...some other file encryption Gp something or other. The program that got me in was goback. I was able to in and format in the drives and finally install windows 7 . However, I did go to Newegg and buy the full version of win 10 pro. It is going to take me a while to put everything back in.

I had my laptop pc hijacked :yell: Had to format the hard drive on that one. Mean while I the flash drive came in with win 10 pro full from newegg along with two 1tb hard drives just incase some how the 960 Evo M.2 1tb got fried -I tried recovering it on an usb adapter. Any how. I got hijack securing a program called Go back . When I put the Evo on the mobo and Goback on disc booted up it with an Ethernet connection it was able to id the Evo and I think it is a Linux program I was able to format. Sure enough flashed the win 10 pro setup on to the SSD. It is going to take me a few days putting back all my software into both machines.

A thankless task but it is at these times I am glad I keep a mirror image of the computers on a monthly basis and files are backed up weekly all to seperate disks so at least I can be confident install counts do not cause an issue when trying to reactivate products.

I'm not totally lost since most everything is on disc -just time consuming. Just a real pain. But it certainly could have been worse. The laptop pc is HP and has its own 4 disc re-install set. No problem there either. Just going to cost me time reinstalling programs.
