Dear chessfriends,

Here is my little X-Mas surprise. I have made a few new testsuites, based on Worldchampionship matches. Below you can download the following testsuites, and one Arena book:

Testsuites:
-----------
* Botvinnik_Smyslov_1957.pgn
* Botvinnik_Tal_1960.pgn
* Spasski_Fischer_1972.pgn
* Kasparov_Karpov_1985.pgn
* Kasparov_Karpov_1986.pgn
* Kasparov_Karpov_1990.pgn
* WorldchampionshipMatches.pgn (i.e. the above 6 matches in one PGN)

Arena book:
------------
* WorldchampionshipMatches.abk (i.e. the above PGN translated into an Arena book)

Enjoy testing!

Thanks Jeroen.

That was a very nice idea. It's nice and entertaining to see how powerful chess engines can play the same openings of the historical World Human Championship matches.
Some time ago I did two test-suites too: Capablanca vs Alekhine 1927 and Kasparov vs Karpov 1984, two matches who I enjoyed years ago analysing; the only little problem is that humans often repeated openings, sometimes too much. Anyway the topic is interesting and it would be nice to create the complete test-suite since Steinitz, the first World Champion. At least now you have made us this work pretty lighter!

Regards,
Gaмßito.

Yes, that is also my consideration. You see the same story - i.e. repeated openings - in almost all matches. I chose 6 matches in which most openings were creating nice play, with the possibility of the current strongest engines to make a nice fight of it.

Anyway the topic is interesting and it would be nice to create the complete test-suite since Steinitz, the first World Champion. At least now you have made us this work pretty lighter!

You are welcome :smile:  Of course the idea to complete the series is in my mind, perhaps I will give it a try.
