One of his last words to the multitude was-
" In other news, I'm working on Rybka. Rybka 5 will be ready sometime this year and the remote Rybka renting will be launched sometime after that. We'll make announcements on our web site and in our forum when we have more information. It should be a fun year.
Best wishes to everyone for a great 2012!"
Some time later he left the building and apparently never looked back.

You have to wonder if he was just blowing a whole lot of smoke- knowing he was already finished , and just trying to save face!
Which would mean that the only one left to cook was Dr. Hyatt, and that job took the aftermath.
The only reason he was going to release a Rybka 5 was to promote the Rybka Cluster (as in "I'm releasing this piece of outdated software which is very weak when compared to the Cluster, and it's still awesome! Come and rent the Cluster" - even considering handing R5 for free), and since that was dropped from the plans is because it wasn't needed after all.
I still dream that I was silently dropped from the Beta circle and that they have some secret Rybka 5 Beta Forum where they're testing it out.
Would be much better than not having R5 at all, ever, but I guess if it comes to it, for the current purposes (not being Rybka's main product) Lukas can do all the testing.
I think Vas could release as Rybka 5 whatever working UCI he had in July 2013, which would be akin to when he made Rybka 2.n2(?) free.
I know that Vas didn't abandon the project.
That's why I can say that the project isn't dead.
Nothings going to change- It will always come down to this-
There is enough energy out there to support Vas' come back!
If he really wanted to turn the tide on his reputation -all he would have to do is -turn out a winning UCI chess engine.
I'm sure it would be hacked to death -but the resounding stir of his presence is what counts. Forget about the nay saying that would take place.
There is enough momentum to play the engine in tournaments-as Rybka 4.1 is repeatedly represented today in most every tournament played- proves the point. That hurdle was jumped sometime ago.
So it really comes down to -does the guy have it in him to turn out a winning class chess engine again. Obviously-he doesn't have to start from scratch!
Balls on the ICGA! If anything they have become "radioactive" -not too many serious minded computer chess enthusiasts what to go to bed with them. The greenish-blue after glow gives them a strangely septic after effect.
Yeah! In the future Vas' Jr may actually post a response. That would be novel. It might even be a kick if he posted that he had some cool ideas about updating Rybka, his dad's old UCI chess engine! That he found the source codes.
But the bottom line is- ultimately, no forth coming comment came after his public statement posted on 2012 re: Rybka 5- leading one to think that time just past, and he decided to let his silence be the indicator of his intent or lack of.
He just didn't give a shit!
Felix IS Vas.
Here to chime in whenever unsatisfied with our impatience.
Here to seed the blight that is our anticipation.
Here to ravage the frail, naive hearts of the meager few who presume that there may be life left in our slippery fish.
JK. All the best to you Felix.
My theory, presented several years ago, is that Vas is buried in Felix's basement...
I am having a problem with self identity myself, with what FICGS is throwing at me.
I AM YOU.
Maybe the ICGA made a kryptonite chess set and sent it to Vas!
Bob Hyatt is really Otis!
First, I was the only Banned for Life.
Then Vas was Banned for Life for hoarding too many horse heads.
Then you were Banned for Life for impersonating a FICGS admin or maybe for making a dodgy bishop move!
You guys need to come up with your own names!
Sorry to disappoint you, but I think Vas is an intelligent person, and therefore he will not return back. I expect him to go on doing new stuff (and deep learning for example is now in the trends).
