Anyone know the best way to get out of a fortress position when you're up like +1.32? That's the score I keep getting after every move and opponent's move. Of course all the while avoid the draw. I don't want to trigger the 50 move rule all it'll be a draw. I tried several engines; K8,H4,SF etc...all do the same thing.

All that happens in the game is the movement of major pieces in random sequence...so like Ka8, Bf4, Bf8, Ka7, Bf1....and on and on and on. I also tried lowering FiftyMoveDistance in H4 from 50 to like 10 or 15. Nothing gets me out of it and onto a win. Is there anything else I can do or is the game really a draw and all I can do is hope that my correspondence opponent makes a blunder? I've enabled syzygy 6-men TB's but that's not helping. Now I could probably force an exchange at some point where I force my two rooks for his queen but that lowers the score from about 1.30 to 0.80-1.00 and it doesn't look like it breaks up the fortress still since no pawns are involved, although there is the possibility that maybe 20 moves later a pawn might be involved.

I guess I need to force moving a pawn or a pawn exchange but how do I do that without losing my advantage? Unless there's something else I can do?

It would help if you post the position (if that's allowed), but from what you write it seems your are indeed stuck in a draw endgame.

The non-helpful reply is of course that the best way to solve the engine-fortress problem is to avoid these positions to begin with!
