Huh?  What?  How did I get dragged into this?
Parent - - By Antares (****) Date 2014-11-20 08:24
Well, as you know sooner or later you will get your hands on every publicly played chess-game in this Universe!
Parent - - By Ozymandias (****) Date 2014-11-20 09:49
The fact that he's reading your comments, means he's not far away from getting this one (or as close as one can get to wait for a game to finish, when there's no clock).

> The fact that he's reading your comments

I already figured out that he uses superior technology&tools to gather all his information... you can call out his name (or those like Eros/"big nose" and other 'superstars' of computer-chess) or publish a game in the remotest corner of this forum, and he will be there... wonder whether this works when you type "Nel$on" or "€ros" as well...

In any case, it is a honor to have a single game of ones own in his book!

Regarding this game, honestly i think he can comfortably add it with a '-+' result in the meantime.

I wish it were so!  I get a pretty good share but I definitely need a little help from my friends.

Uly, WHERE ARE 'YA?

Do you currently [let] calculate a 18men-tablebase? Giving you little a hint here: Lets put a few pieces off the board, it will get so much easier! And honestly, i mean, you will just dre... eh see an absolutely forced endgame which i will discard in two-three moves anyway...

Btw., especially for your [hopefully] upcoming moves i ordered a new 4-core machine&engine "Viking":

It's happened before, so maybe the question is in bad form but, could he be dead?
Parent - - By Uly (Gold) Date 2014-11-26 09:08
Have been very busy analyzing some game from the ICCF that I'm currently losing

Sorry about that, but that one does have a clock, and I can say, I wasn't able to give my best in that other game due to the clock, and I'm giving my best to this one, so hopefully the waiting time will be worth it

Good job getting to a -0.51 score, at that rate you may get to -0.52 in December!
Parent - - By Antares (****) Date 2014-11-26 10:06

> Have been very busy analyzing some game from the ICCF that I'm currently losing

, i just hope its against a 1. e4-"best by test!" and not your 1. d4-"superb defense that basically has ensured a superb-equality position" that is letting you down there... :yell:, but maybe there is still hope!?

I have been busy the last days as well... seconding GM Carlsen in his WCC-match vs. GM Anand (ok, i supported GM Kasparov & GM Adams who seconded Carlsen)... sadly GM Anand chickened out of all my prepared ItalianGame|TwoKnights & Urusov-lines...

> Sorry about that, but that one does have a clock

My games should always have highest priority!

> Good job getting to a -0.51 score, at that rate you may get to -0.52 in December!

When you aren't afraid to move till then, chances are there definitely, i just see my little raise as a symbolic action - especially as you're eager to see raising evals!... yet it will be interesting to see whether your own eval's will get a more realistic touch as well (-0.06 in consideration!?)... at least everything else than another (of course ridiculous!) 0.00 eval claim will already surprise me!
Parent - - By Uly (Gold) Date 2014-11-29 05:08
The game I'm losing is as black, the guy debunked my Spanish with a Bishop sacrifice on h6 that I wrongly scored as 0.00  - but I recovered the game to a 0.69 score (opponent's advantage - and hey, I wonder what score would you have in that game, 1.20, maybe?)

> 1. d4-"superb defense that basically has ensured a superb-equality position" that is letting you down there... :yell:

My "super defense" was indeed broken on another game. Whether my opponent has enough to win remains to be seen, I'll give that one some 20% chance of losing, which, while bad, I've defended 80% drawing positions in the past so I'm not worried there.

(also, the only reason I'm in trouble is because I captured with the wrong pawn in that position, otherwise, my opponent seems to have lost a much more dangerous line that he had. I'm lucky that capturing with the wrong pawn wasn't completely lost.)

>My games should always have highest priority!

You have my highest priority of strength! I only analyze this game when I'm certain that it can have my full attention and that I'm guaranteed to play the very best moves that I could have played, unlike my games with clock where often seem rushed and sometimes I just have to move because I have my clock running down at twice the speed, not because I have found the best move.

>it will be interesting to see whether your own eval's will get a more realistic touch as well (-0.06 in consideration!?)

No, it wouldn't be a small change. If I'm wrong and going towards a lost endgame your eval on my side would make a huge jump. It's just that I'm stubborn in that the endgames we're reaching should be drawn with perfect play, and that under our circumstances I have enough resources to play them perfectly.

My eval would be much worse if I saw "dangerous endgames" (endgames that I have to avoid because I can't find a way of how to save them) or "highly complex endgames" (endgames where I don't know what is going on and could be lost). But so far I've always found a way.
Parent - - By Antares (****) Date 2014-11-29 07:13

> I only analyze this game when I'm certain that it can have my full attention and that I'm guaranteed to play the very best moves

So you need "[your] best", "full attention" and "perfect play" to draw a -0.05 drag-down-to-0.00-eval game including a move-pace which now adds up to three weeks for the last non-forced-move? And you still dream about "forced endgames" where you can just show a minor piece for my rook... oh yes, they must be really REALLY forced!
Parent - - By Uly (Gold) Date 2014-11-29 12:07
I'm aware you could win or all your comments wouldn't make any sense, so I want to make sure that you don't. I just can't believe this position is lost, or with 50% chance of losing it or whatever, because it's the kind of position I dream to reach on games I'm defending, and if the danger is real then analyzing one position less could be my doomfall.

I'm liking this fail high very much though...

So I'm leaving it unresolved, cancelling analysis and playing this already... (here as last time you almost miss my move when I played at the bottom )

Tinypic is awful, it eventually deletes the pictures you upload, but that's not all, it eventually gives the url to another image uploaded by someone else, which could be inappropriate material! Yeah, I've seen people banned from other forums because their pictures that used to be in tinipic became pornographic years later! So my advice is, avoid like the plague! (I currently suggest http://abload.de/ as image host, though their text is in dutch, and they use Flash, I have yet to find a better image host in English.)

>Well, i hope its actually based on my move... i never thought i would say this, but i'm missing a little (hell, just a little!) your very little annoying ponder hits!

Ponder hits meant "I'm making this move without further analysis", no way I was doing that here, I have a fail high to resolve

That said, yes, I was expecting Rd7.

Okay, the truth of the matter is that I wouldn't be able to win as black from this position, so if you manage to do it you'd have bested me and have all my respect. Not bluffing, I just don't see it and would wish to see the light.

If this loses then I probably had lost before this, since, I could have won as black against the likes of Qf3, Qb2 or c5.

Honestly i don't know either, but i'm pretty optimistic... i reached&saved this position with a "-+"-rating two months ago, since then all i [can] do is considering all the alternatives left aside (while your thinking-time, for example 39...Kc8|Rb8 / 41...Rf8 / 42...Bd2) but having to come back still pondering out my mainline...

> If this loses then I probably had lost before this

I agree with that, this position is now practically self-playing, so we can get a direct conclusion of its results where to search for improvements (in case they would be necessary of course).

Actually, I feel so close to solving the game to a draw I think I could do it in a week. But there's just too many positions to solve. I still don't think any of them is lost for white, but let's see, you'd definitively deserve the win if you found the only winning line in this sea of drawn variations.

Well, I don't believe you! If that was true you'd have announced mate in 93 back then, wouldn't have you? :yell:

> If that was true you'd have announced mate in 93 back then, wouldn't have you? :yell:

With all the side-lines possible on that way to our "forced endgame" (indeed you had way better ones left on the sideline) that would take a massive amount of time to calculate the correct score there. This is mate for White in 73 moves, and i doubt you are capable to hold that game even for that full distance. Edit: And i thank Caissa that i can even force two (only legal) moves for you there, else we would see this endgame somewhere in 2016 maybe.

Okay, I have an announcement to make:

I have solved this position to a draw.

White claims a tie.

And, since you made a ridiculous claim I will make one that also sounds ridiculous:

God could not beat me from this position.

So I have a proposal to make:

{Draw Odds Offer}

Yes.

If you beat me you can claim to have earned a double victory, such as if we played two games and you won 2 of them back to back.

But if the game ends in draw, I'll claim a win as white

How does that sound? Eh? If the game is truly a mate in 73 then it's obvious you would accept it so you get twice the wins, huh?

The mate sequence is probably just part of the banter, which is something you corr players apparently enjoy, but after a quick look at the position yesterday, I came to the conclusion that white's lost here.

Congratulations to Anton for a good game with black.
Parent - - By Uly (Gold) Date 2014-12-06 08:18
And my draw claim means nothing, I guess?
Parent - - By Ozymandias (****) Date 2014-12-06 09:19
Not more than what I've seen with my own eyes, certainly.
Parent - - By Uly (Gold) Date 2014-12-06 10:12
I hope after the game ends in draw you're up to the challenge of trying to prove me wrong by yourself.
Parent - - By Ozymandias (****) Date 2014-12-06 11:11
Without a clock? Fat chance.
Parent - - By Uly (Gold) Date 2014-12-06 14:57
Sure, we can instate a clock. Does 24 hours/move clock sounds fine? I can move instantly now.

(only after this game is over.)
Parent - By Ozymandias (****) Date 2014-12-06 15:11
That's ok with me, specially considering that, I don't think you can draw a lost position.

Thanks Ozy, looking forward for our next freestyle-session!

Uly, i have MOVED and made a claim... you made one WITHOUT MOVE which basically can be considered "hot air" (like most of your analysis in this game btw.), which one is more trustworthy?
Parent - - By Uly (Gold) Date 2014-12-06 14:56
I refuse to move until you accept or reject the offer.

I'm no longer happy with drawing you, I want to humiliate you after the bogus mate claim.

So, accept or reject! That you disregarded my offer IS hot air!
Parent - - By Antares (****) Date 2014-12-06 15:13

> I'm no longer happy with drawing you

Uly, when you want to win - or even draw, you have to play (way!) better than you did in this game... its as simple as that. We started here a nice friendly (and battering ) game, and we will continue the game with the conditions we agreed at the start - no need for any challenge. After this game, you're of course free to pick out a position (which is hopefully not too far back...) and challenge me the way you try to do here.

> I refuse to move

Noone who could draw your side would refuse to move, so i see this as -if taken in practice- as a simple "I give up my hopeless position, congratulations Anton!".

Parent - - By Uly (Gold) Date 2014-12-06 23:29
Okay, I'll take that as rejection of the offer, so I'll move. I knew you wouldn't accept because you got nothing but gut feelings and this proves it:

You're bluffing or you wouldn't have any reason to reject my offer.

All I hope for is that you make an animated gif every move with "Mate in 72, Mate in 71, Mate in 70... oops, where did my mate go??"

> All I hope for is that you make an animated gif every move

Uly, you know you enjoy(ey) very much making your moves more impressive/stronger with battering, (upper case and even gif'ed) ponder hits, "!"/"="-remarks and of course very very low evals down to 0.00... so that animated gif's of mine were just my little counter-attacks, which -as i now agree with- start to look more and more superfluous.

When you allow to say, i didn't like that "I want to humiliate you"-part above... maybe i have a very negative association with this term, but i think we're playing here a very battering(&interesting&funny) chessgame... nothing against a little trash-talk&(self-)celebration, but when i can just draw from here or you will eh should lose that shouldn't have anything to do with "humilating", its just that in this chess-game one was more right than the other, analyzed slightly better, took better decisions (in a sea of a lot difficult ones to take) or maybe just even resources/tools and/or understood certain positions better... and therefore i see it more in a sportive manner like you formulated yesterday.

Good luck!
