Hey, Enlighten me-what the hell is " Cluster Toga " and what's it  all about  ? Is this hype for a new cereal? Or, are we going some place else here-that seems to be going some where but  doesn't seem to have any juice to quite make it to the number 2 spot. What's the scoop if there is any and if so does it come with raisins? How does Hiarcs feel about this Cluster Jober Toga?

sidserious-wants to know- Yeah! I wanta know!
Parent - - By Permanent Brain (*****) Date 2007-12-28 18:35
Obviously, Gridchess simply was renamed to Cluster Toga.
Parent - - By RFK (Gold) Date 2007-12-28 18:52
Now I'm getting the hang of this stuff! So the next go around it will be " ClusterBelkgridStrelka toga " ?
Parent - - By RFK (Gold) Date 2007-12-28 18:58 Edited 2007-12-28 19:01
By the way! Has anyone seen Zappa Mexico? Hey! Turbo, have you seen your favorite chess engine? Uumh? Not at Paderborn! I guess Cozzie punked out-no guts no glory! Well, he can just go eat Cluster Toga grits, man! (Whatever the hell that is?)
Parent - By turbojuice1122 (Gold) Date 2007-12-28 20:19
Last I saw, Zappa was making Rybka nice and fat on a steady diet of closed Sicilians and then having a nice, tasty meal.
Parent - By NATIONAL12 (Gold) Date 2007-12-28 23:11
if cozzie has any sense he will be indulging in the hedonistic pleasures recommend by aristippus,i got this info from another thread.

> Obviously, Gridchess simply was renamed to Cluster Toga.

But I also think that it no longer contains Crafty's code.
Parent - - By RFK (Gold) Date 2007-12-28 19:02
Well, that's good because I like Crafty.
Parent - - By Carl Bicknell (*****) Date 2007-12-28 19:08
Does anyone know the precise firepower of this cluster? 32 processors?
Parent - By Banned for Life (Gold) Date 2007-12-28 19:22
In the past, they have used much larger clusters based in several locations in Germany.

Harvey might know something about this clustered beast.

sidserious-
Parent - - By Harvey Williamson (*****) Date 2007-12-28 20:08
I might indeed :)

But these kind of questions need to be asked elsewhere!?

Happy New Year Robert,

Harvey

> But these kind of questions need to be asked elsewhere!?

If this is some kind of "I'll only answer if you sing up at my forum", then I consider this "conditional" behavior impolite.
Parent - - By Permanent Brain (*****) Date 2007-12-28 21:16
Actually it isn't that interesting anyway. Clustered Toga is an experimental chess system which runs on clusters, using Toga code. What else? Nescafé. :-D
Parent - By Harvey Williamson (*****) Date 2007-12-28 21:18
I heard it was not even Nescafe - some kind of generic Coffee.
Parent - - By Harvey Williamson (*****) Date 2007-12-28 21:17
If I have exclusive information - I will first post it on my own forum - why is that impolite?
Parent - - By Lukas Cimiotti (Bronze) Date 2007-12-28 22:55
That's not impolite at all.
But could you please give us a link to the where you reveal that secret?

Best regards,
Lukas

You couldn't see the information as is, you would need to sign up at Hiarcs' forum to see the information.
Parent - - By Fulcrum2000 (****) Date 2007-12-29 00:09
I thought you only need to register if you want to *write* something, correct?.
Parent - By Uly (Gold) Date 2007-12-29 00:43
Oh yes, you only need to sign up to see Chess Thinkers Forum for Rebels, I thought that all forums were like that. My bad.
Parent - - By Banned for Life (Gold) Date 2007-12-29 23:16
Looks like they are slumming it. According to some of the papers on GridChess, they have operated on larger clusters in the past.

Yes, I also think the budget for Kais project becomes low :-). His win today against Rybka is a good reason for him to come to an end.
Parent - - By Banned for Life (Gold) Date 2007-12-30 00:27
I don't understand...

His win against Rybka should be a good reason to look for better sponsorship. It's not like Rybka gets beaten all the time in major tournaments.

With most businesses shut down for end-of-year break, running on 32 cores is nothing short of pathetic!

Regards,
Alan
Parent - By Roland Rösler (****) Date 2007-12-30 01:40
Alan, you think too much like a businessman. Kais project is his doctorate (PhD). And here he has to come to an end :-). When he has the Doktor (Dr.) in his name, maybe he makes a job application to the sheik. And he has a good network. (One of) His PhD advisor is Prof. Dr. Ulf Lorenz, who is already in the Hydra team.

Hi Harvey,
That is not impolite that is correct form! Yes! Of course, you are very right in saying that any info found should rightfully be post on Hiarcs Forum, and I will be sure to log on to retrieve it.

Best Wishes to you also,

Robert

Happy New Year  to you and Yours!
Parent - - By Jessica (**) Date 2007-12-29 12:25
Harvey It becomes impolite because if you look in your forum we do not tell your members to please post rybka questions first here then we will answer!  This is a forum for all us to enjoy and what you do is try and just get more memember from Rybka Forum to sign up which this type of behavior brings out the worst in me!!! When someone ask a question just answer it no need for them to sign up somewhere else or get a post saying that they can check your forum they asking here!!!!

PS: Now the nice jessica will return AGAIN!

Thanks
Jessica

Jessica,

That post was directed to me and it was I believe a nudge for me to come over and post on Hiarcs site. Which by the way I consider an honor. I really regard this on going hostility as nothing less than unacceptable and rather boring at best and worst just plain churlish.

sidserious-Oh! For the love of God Woman get a pet that will love you back if you don't beat the damn thing into hating you!

Also Harvey shall I sign up in your forum as well to get a ANSWER [DELETED] int his forum? Or can you answer that here?#

[EDIT:
Please be more polite, there's no reason to start insulting each other...

It is rude,... rather. :-(.

It has nothing to HW but it shows the culture level of the posting person.
Everyone of us is being somehow the 'embassy' of the country on the forum.
I regret that such a posts are happening on the forum :-( .

+1.  I edited Jessica's post and hope she understands that it's not a good idea to communicate like this...
Parent - - By Jessica (**) Date 2007-12-29 13:14
:-D

Just had to say that can't you tell I'm trying to be alittle nicer than in the past! :-)
I even got the smiley faces going.

:-D

The IPCCC website has had a few occasional glitches (though I can't complain much). Right now it lists:
3   Hiarcs   GER   3,5   13   :) [What type of fish do the Germans prefer?]

Hi Jessica,

As you think I am a jerk ;-)

Here is my Jerk Rybka recipe just for you an exclusive to this forum only.

Happy New Year,

Harvey
xxx

Grilled Jerk Rubbed Whole Rybka with Hot Vinegar (Escovitch) Sauce

2 tablespoons ground coriander
2 tablespoons ground ginger
2 tablespoons light brown sugar
1 tablespoon onion powder
1 tablespoon garlic powder
1 tablespoon kosher salt
1 tablespoon habanero powder
2 teaspoons coarsely ground black pepper
2 teaspoons dried thyme
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground allspice
1 teaspoon ground cloves
1 Rybka, scaled and gutted

Preheat the grill to medium-high. Combine all of the spices in a medium bowl. Set aside half of the spice rub in an airtight container for another use; store at room temperature for up to 6 months.

Rub both sides of the fish with the remaining half of the spice rub. Grill on both sides for about 4 to 5 minutes on each side, or until just cooked through. Remove from the grill and immediately pour the Escovitch sauce over the fish and serve.

Escovitch Sauce:
1 Spanish onion, halved and thinly sliced
1/2 Scotch bonnet pepper, finely chopped
1 1/2 cups white wine vinegar
3 allspice berries

Combine all ingredients in a small saucepan. Bring to a simmer over medium heat on the grates of the grill or on a burner. Simmer for a couple minutes and then pour over the fish.

A fine recipe indeed Harvey !!!! Well Done please !!!

i agree with robert on this.

Well, every forum has it's own method to get new users. :)
Parent - - By FWCC (***) Date 2007-12-29 00:44
Yes but seriously what is a Cluster Toga? Are they running in parallel?Go Rybka Go! Kick some butt! Will this cluster Toga cause some controversy?
Parent - By Uly (Gold) Date 2007-12-29 00:46

> Will this cluster Toga cause some controversy?

It already caused some controversy when it was "Gridchess", and I even think that that controversy caused the drop of Crafty's code.
Parent - By Harvey Williamson (*****) Date 2007-12-29 18:32
I look forward to the release of Rybka 3.0 being anounced on the Hiarcs forum 1st ;-)
Parent - By Roland Rösler (****) Date 2007-12-29 00:58
Why not 88 cores like in WCC2007? Make a search about Himstedt in this forum and you will find the right thread. The work about Gridchess (Cluster Toga) isn´t a work about mp-scaling but about distribution of clusters.
PS: I hope, you have a new picture about cooked fish after the game Cluster Toga vs. Rybka this morning :-).
Parent - - By RFK (Gold) Date 2007-12-29 23:04
Harvey,

I am so sorry that you have had to put up with this on going churlish behavior from a member of this forum. Please accept it as nothing less than what it is- ill bred behavior and nothing more.

Your Friend, Indeed!

Robert

Harvey can be proud. He is Jessicas second victim; the first was Vas! But she can´t make it to banish Vas from this forum. She will do an other try with an other person :-).
Parent - By RFK (Gold) Date 2007-12-30 00:12
This is like a bad back street production of Macbeth!
Parent - By Jessica (**) Date 2007-12-30 02:12
So it is true you people can really find nothing better to talk about because Rybka 3 is not out so you all keep fueling the fire if you read the top post you will see where I said okay and I would be nicer.  Now lets try and move on and talk about something with Rybka. Here just for you guys I AM SORRY okay!!!  Is that good enough? now move on.

:-D
Parent - - By Jessica (**) Date 2007-12-30 00:25 Edited 2007-12-30 11:53
Oh please,
