Hi,

I answer Harry to play some games with his HS-Book for Rybka 2.0.ctg (beta version) against Perfect 13.ctg.

The 2 tournaments with 100 games are payed with Rybka 2.3.2 mp and Rybka 2.3.2a mp.

In each tournament, the engine used HS-Book wins with 59.5% and 58%.

PGN is available on this page.

Regards,
Patrick

I think this isn't a surprise for most of us, except the ones who expect higher win percentages for Mr.Schnapp's book.

Hello,

Thanks for the test...

But i think this test must be cancelled, becouse in the Perfect 13.ctg(the 3th game of the database), the 13 move is Nd7 not Bg5 !!!

With a big possibility the Perfect 13.ctg is not used with optimized settings !

  Hello Sedat,
It was played with ABSOLUTELY from you specified settings!!
Your new book is certainly VERY GOOD as a neutral book and the result of this match in no way reduces its quality.
My new beta are exclusively optimized for the Rybka engine.
I congratulate you for the "Perfect 13",it has fine lines and I lake that very much.

  Best regards,
    Harry

The release comes with the Rybka 3.xx engine.
Then we like to play on the server.

Harry,

Patrick has made a match claim that Sedat has debunked by finding a variation from the line specified in his book. Why not perform a valid test using the same HS-Book for Rybka 2.0.ctg (beta version) on the server? The reason can't be secrecy of the lines, since Patrick has already the provide the PGN for his original test.

If we can find someone with roughly equivalent hardware, this would be an interesting match!

Regards,
Alan

Hello Alan :)

<I answer Harry to play some games with his HS-Book for Rybka 2.0.ctg (beta version) against Perfect 13.ctg.

I think here, this book test is done by Harry not by Patrick

<If we can find someone with roughly equivalent hardware, this would be an interesting match!

Yes...its will be very interesting fight, any time and with a BIG pleajure i will agree a such duell between both books!

You have in your book for the 13 black move: 13)..Bg5 with 76.7% and 13)..Nd7 with 23.3% !!!!!! BOOK OPTION OPTIMIZE MINIMUM GAMES = 3  !!!!

Harry,

All chessbase experienced users will agree with me,if the book line is green all engines will choose that move, not Bg5 !!!

What will you say about second game(29th game of the database) ?!

Hello Harry,

<I have downloaded your book.
I have no doubts....thanks

<I have carefully checked ALL your settings.
Here you made a BIG mistake

<The GUI Fritz 10 works absolutely correct
I think you forget to press the button''optimize''

<The hardware is super.
Yes,its a very fast harware

There is nothing more to say.
Yes...on 9th move there is nothing more to say !!!

Greetings,

take it easy... harry books is solely optimize for rybka engine.. the result of the match does not proof that harry's book is more superior. By the way perfect 13 is one of the best neutral books.

I think that both HS books and perfect books are great. This test is therefore very interesting, BUT the pics by sedat make quite clear that his book setting was not optimized.

I am either totally calcified and may not look right in the window for book options or some moves in your book will not be played as you want!.
Now an elementary example: if the book would have played to "normal" and not "optimize" or with minimum games less than 3(three),then would be played a lot of crazy
   moves in very many games!!.
      CLEAR ?!

harry i posted earlier, i started to use perfect 13, i got G4 twice and N F3 on the other game,i went back to hs master book after wasting 6 hours of quad core time.

  Hello National,
I have now checked again Sedats first example(game) as follows:
The first 10 moves entered up to before 10)..0-0. Then 11)0-0(entered),then (Move Now),it comes 11)..a6,then 12)Nc3(entered),then
(Move Now),it comes 12)..f5,then 13)f3(entered),then (Move Now),IT COMES 13)..Bg5  !!!!!!!!!
I have tried several times : IT COMES ONLY 13)..BG5 !!!
Please do exactly the same and write us the result. Sedat claimed that ONLY 13)..Nd7 to be played.   O N L Y !!

  Best,
   Harry

All black moves: 10)..0-0 11)..a6 12)..f5  come true with the command "Move Now"..BUT THEN...... 13)..Bg5. ??!!??!!

just out of interest i looked at your master book for this pos, you give Bg5, the move seems ok to me. i dont know if it is best.
Parent - - By Harry Schnapp (**) Date 2007-12-26 22:40
Bg5 is general a good move, the books Shredder.ctg and Sheebar.ctg give him even 100% as only Main move.
But for the Rybka engine is Nd7 better.
Parent - By NATIONAL12 (Gold) Date 2007-12-26 22:47
i did not check your rybka book. my post was only a bit of fun harry, i think you know that.
Parent - - By NATIONAL12 (Gold) Date 2007-12-26 23:04
harry i like your books because they produce sharp lines, i think it was nelson that said the same. rybka is the only engine that i know of that can take advantage of this. i will have a third comp in a few months, which will be very powerful.

National,

Ha.,ha,ha...you can make to believe only to the beginners on that issue !

I have checked the database and not only 2 games there are severel not optimized games !

My advice to Harry,to repeat the book test but this time to be sure that its with optimized settings !

BTW,still no replay for 26th,88th,178th... games about 9th move ?!

Kind Regards,
Sedat Canbaz
Parent - - By Theodor (*) Date 2007-12-26 18:48
  Hi,
I have also checked: mostly 13)..Bg5 in game 1.
Game 2: 9)g4 and in repetition,from the beginning,then 9)Qd2. Alternately g4 and Qd2.
Why? is clear: I know most of the qualities and weaken of the GUI's from Chessbase. If there are other move(s) with % besides a green move, you must rightclick "Don't play
in tournament"on these move(s).The % goes automatically to zero and the green move becomes 100% ! So are you absolutely sure:the green is played!.
Why,for example,"lies" g4 with 50% ??. In absolutely ALL the good books is g4 bottom with "0%" .
I suggest you should revise this problem. After that ,your settings will work clean.
Your book is good!

Theodor,

you are welcome to the issue !

Are you still have the same suspicious about my Perfect book as before ?!

No!
Very doubtful, everything can be only random.Such tests are not reliable. The past has proven.

Harry,

Maybe my english is too bad or you dont want to understand me

<if the book would have played to "normal" and not "optimize" or with minimum games less than 3(three),then would be played a lot of crazy
   moves in very many games!!.
      CLEAR ?!

I will be a nervous if you will say again your gui plays at 9th move to g4

Please carefully check the 29th game of the database

Harry,

Sedat is right.

Under the Fritz 10 GUI, you need to optimize the Perfect Book. Go to: Book options and click where says: 'Tournament book'.  Then, you will see that it will never play the moves under black color. Only the greens.

Regards,
Gaмßito.

Thank you for the honest answer...

BTW,its interesting to see with that issue, how many people are amateurs or experts on optimizing the book settings

  Hi Sedat,
Today I have downloaded your book again. Aha!!...I see you have corrected the moves. Now everything will be OK.
What Gamßito describes is normal, I don't need a course for beginners!. But it is so that it does not work always 100%. Complaints there are already since years at
Chess Base GmbH , Hamburg, Germany.

  Hi,
Be honest and tell the truth! you have corrected the moves "g4" with 100% and "Bg5" with 100% instead 50% and 73%.
If you continue deniest then I show here a link for the people with the book that I had downloaded on 23.12.2007 morning, just before you have published it in the forums.
Then I do finally finished !
I have no time to lose with this "taradiddle".

It's very likely he didn't update the book. Those percentages get screwed up by the Chessbase GUI itself. It happened to me before in my own book.
