Which other computer chess fora/forums do you read on a regular/frequent basis? Yes, I know that some of the ones listed are essentially defunct - it will help weed out spurious votes.:) I got these by searching around for about 15 minutes, so it's quite possible that I missed some. To be clear, I am talking about the "computer chess" part or sub-forum of things like chessforums.org

Two more forums are the ChessNinja.com boards (from Mig Greengard; but there is not much activity in the computer chess part) and the Schachwerkstatt (german / new URL).

http://schachwerkstatt.foren-city.de (offline at the moment?!)

Heh, I read the Daily Dirt but didn't realise that chessninja.com had an active computer chess forum.

I forgot another important one: The Winboard Forum, http://wbforum.vpittlik.org/

I think there is not as much activitiy anymore than it was, or like here, but WB. engine programmers are posting there.

I read Rybka,CCC,CSS often. But I open only threads where the title promises something which I am interested in.

There are even more, but I hardly ever visit them... for example, WBEC Ridderkerk has a forum, or there are message boards especially about dedicated chess computers.

Yes, I saw "Winboard Forum" in my search results, but assumed it was just about the GUI. It seems to be reasonably useful for programming.

I miss the "none" option...

Right. I do visit talkchess and very rarely Hiarcs too (just to see if anything cooking against our fish :-)). But i guess Rybka forum is where i live.

Only Hiarcs Forum and TalkChess, sometimes they have stuff that the Rybka forum is missing, so I have to check just in case.

I used to visit the Winboard forum, until I was accused of trolling by the administrator and left.

Hi,

Hiarcs forum is very good organised. There are official moderators and everybody knows who is responsible for what. The discussion there are more
soft. I hope it will be more often visited but it has some time to be passed.

I like Hiarcs forum very much.
Why?
I've got the feeling that people there are a little bit more polite than they are here.
Sorry.

Can you give some example to elaborate on your idea?
Parent - By Hetman (*****) Date 2007-12-22 14:44
The thread  'Correct result of the ...' is very interesting in that theme :-(
Parent - - By Felix Kling (Gold) Date 2007-12-21 23:34
I guess this is also because this forum here is bigger, if you have more users it's a question of time when it becomes more inpolite. At least from what I remember the yahoo group e.g. was much more friendly....

I am not sure if it is correlated with the size of the forum.

I would be for the idea that it is joined with the moderators activity and moderating policy.
'Grilled Rybka' (joke) is being a problem,  the impolite behaviour ... ?.

Btw., a solution would be to create a seperate forum where only selected users are able to post, but this kind of forum would be against our aim to let all user participate in discussions. I don't see a real solution to this problem.

> I don't see a real solution to this problem.

The real solution would be for the members that don't like impolite behavior to add all the members that they consider impolite, to their ignore list.

you could create a better poll with Rybka,Hiarcs, talkchess,CSS and chess ninja as options.
but the poll must be external.

Well, check this one out: http://hiarcs.net/forums/viewtopic.php?p=5901#5901

I put the poll here because that forum is probably less biased toward Hiarcs than our forum is biased toward Rybka.  Naturally, Harvey should like this because voting in that poll requires one to become a member in the Hiarcs forum, so if it ends up being monopolized by unwashed, knuckle-dragging masses of Rybka users, then suddenly the Hiarcs forum grows greatly :-).
