That is not a difficult question to answer. What other chess company is willing to set a " Features & Functionality " forum, having significant interest to the users in the development of a GUI a product that Convetka is developing with them in mind.

What other company has a person assigned to a forum to answer and resolve issue that may arise- to avoid having to start ridiculous threads without first having done their home work

sidserious-pissed over knee jerked reactions to easily resolved issues.

The Hiarcs forum of course Robert :)

i have to agree. they have been unbelievably helpful to me, and even sent me a new set of encyclopedia of middle game (four disks) when i lost my original ones in a move.  Chess assistant is an affordable database compared to chessbase, and my main analysis tool.. I think their online interface is as good or better than chessbase and it is a mystery why more people don't play on it. (actually, maybe it is just because more people have traditionally been on the chessbase server).

If they get the gui right, maybe they can challenge chessbase in terms of market share (and what a small market it is)?

Hi ozziejoe,

Thanks for taking the time to weigh in! :-)

I want to preface something here right off the bat-

I don't get a damn thing for free from Convekta- Nothing comes to me free! But I know a good product when I use it, and I want to make sure they stick around for a long time to come as long as they are fair and on the up and up and they have SO BEEN ON THE UP AND UP.  So my  position is, let's support and work with them when ever we can.

sidserious- Yeah! I am a real nut case! So what!

They implemented all the stuff I suggested for the Rybka GUI, so yeah, I give them an A+ ;)

Hi Vytron,

That Teddy Bear is doing some strange things to my head, man! What's up with that?(ahahah-:-) )

Heh, it was not a Teddy Bear, but an Azurril (painted green). Anyway, I do have now a Teddy Bear ;)

The reason is that I used to have a repainted Goldeen (fish) as my avatar, meant to represent how I imagined Rybka. But then other members put a fish as their avatar, calling it "Rybka 3". So I suddenly felt that having a fish there was unoriginal, so I changed it. I picked Azurril because it's next to Goldeen.

The reason I change their colors is because I think that there exists a lot of colors, so why to stick to only one? (Or more, but still, I'd like to see a blue, or purple apple...)

I changed my avatar to a (Petrol green) Teddy Bear so it does some strange things to your head ;)

Hi vytron,

Yeah! That is more spooky than the last one! Thanks a whole lot! :-)

sidserious-(what the hell is an Azurril?)

A Pokemon. Some years ago I played Pokemon instead of Chess, and I was quite good at it. But it was at the Gold/Silver/Crystal versions, and they keep updating the number of available Pokemon and moves (like if at chess they kept adding new pieces), the new versions seemed to broke the game to my taste, but everyone was playing them and no longer playing the Gold/Silver/Crystal versions, so I quit.

I use a Pokemon as avatar as a homage to that great game that I used to enjoy just like I enjoy Computer Chess now :)

>>But then other members put a fish as their avatar, calling it "Rybka 3"<<

I guess you mean my avatar, don't worry, this is just an atwork from me to learn using Inkscape, so it's no official logo and Rybka still looks like how you imagine her :)

> I guess you mean my avatar

And Vempele too (And, even Sidserious has a dead fish.)

Anyway, your Rybka artwork is fine, it's just that I always imagined Rybka with a horn on her forehead (and beating her opponents with it instead of say, biting them.)

Well, i don't know much about your language, but i try to learn anything about it. So i ask myself: Shouldn't it be "incredibly good" instead of "Why is Convekta Sooooo incredible Good!" ?
Please help me.
Regards,
Lukas

This is easy to find out. Use google and search for "is incredible good" and then for "is incredibly good" . Which has more hits is right :) (so you are right)

Danke ;)

There's even a site that does this automatically for you:

GoogleBattle.

This doesn't work very well.  Try it with "ain't nice" (WRONG, but gives 521,000) compared with "isn't nice" (RIGHT, but gives only 192,000).

However, in this particular case, the phrase should be "incredibly good".
Parent - - By Felix Kling (Gold) Date 2007-12-20 22:59
Not when I search:
Ergebnisse 1 - 10 von ungefähr 522.000 für "ain't nice". (0,29 Sekunden)
Ergebnisse 1 - 10 von ungefähr 2.700.000 für "isn't nice". (0,06 Sekunden)

This method works well in the majority of cases.
Parent - - By turbojuice1122 (Gold) Date 2007-12-21 00:29
That's quite strange; I repeated my search and obtained the same results as earlier.  Are you putting the terms in quotation marks in both searches?  I have the same that you have for "ain't nice", but you have a factor of 15 higher than I have for "isn't nice".
Parent - By Vempele (Silver) Date 2007-12-21 05:55
Tulokset 1 - 10 noin 2 720 000 osuman joukosta haulle "isn't nice". (0,03 sekuntia)
Pasted from your post.
Parent - - By Felix Kling (Gold) Date 2007-12-21 08:13
Yes, I put the terms in quotation marks. Maybe you search just on sites in your language?
Parent - By turbojuice1122 (Gold) Date 2007-12-21 11:02
I think the search takes everything...my feeling is that the search is dependent upon geographic location.
Parent - By Uly (Gold) Date 2007-12-21 01:41
This is what I got:

"ain't"    83,700,000 (view)
"isn't"   346,000,000

But of course it doesn't give you the right term, but the most popular (and most of the time, the most popular will be right). So, do you want to be right or popular?

Hi Kullberg,

It is nothing less than sarcasm in relation to the other thread that reflect the negative toward Convekta. Unless you'd rather fantasize a good looking female holding up a box of Convekta 9.1 saying, " Why is Convektak Sooooo incredible Good!".  Then some jackass can jump out and say, " Why that's easy, Natasta, It's gooooood because we put extra Ram into our engines!" Or, whatever-
