Ok,

I didn't use any engines but here is my process thought without variation calculation which engines can do much better than I.

The B on b3 has not prospects for now.
There is nothing interesting white can do on the Queen side.
On the King side, the Q is the only piece active but could well also be an issue if/when attacked by a minor piece (i.e. Rf6)

meanwhile :
Black can still make progress and pawns on f5 and e4 have the potential to brake through.
Also black has more active pieces, easpecially the N and f8 rook.

Now this is with no calculation, but from positionnal criteria, I would prefer playing black here.
Also calculation is all what matters, the rest is evaluation & intuition. So if there is nothing concreate black can do there is nothing.....

But it seems to me that white will have a difficult time coming......

Hi,
The game is over I can already see plus well over plus 2 for black (latest stockfish dev)..... Qe7 seems like the best kill, previous games had gone either Ne5,Qxc3 or Rg8 .... def a great knight v poor bishop, you can already see what is going to happen in the direction of the white king with no engine
Parent - By DazzleKnight2010 (**) Date 2014-01-21 18:00
Yes, its a matter of time. I guess my opponent want me to demonstrate that black is winning. So we will continue to fight to the end. His objective should be to make it as hard as possible for me to gain the point. After this we will have to debrief and discuss tools and methods. IDEA is for sure a great feature.

Thanks.

Yes, i think I am good at evaluation and this probably why I am rated above 2k.

But I am very poor at execution probably why I am not a titled player....

Black loosing ?

Which engine says that ?

Does it has a concrete line of moves that brings up material & winning position ?

>Which engine says that ?

Most of them say BLACK is winning now but the very latest Stockfish development engine which is a monster by the way was the earliest

>Does it has a concrete line of moves that brings up material & winning position ?

Yes ..... It reaches depths of 35-40 ply fairly quickly on my comp in the above position and the ones before, but to be honest a human could see the basic plan although we do not evaluate in centipawns lol ....

Ok so I was totally wrong and looking forward to see the computers developping the moves.

I really thought that black stands better here and still do.

Black is winning, I think there has been a misunderstanding lol .... I am getting plus 5 in blacks favour at 41ply

Now I only play the optimal moves given by IDEA in Aquarium. KomodoTCEC rocks in this positional battle!

What was the challenge for this game?
Parent - By DazzleKnight2010 (**) Date 2014-01-23 11:20
The challenge was to see whether Houdini 3 or KomodoTCEC are better. I know 1 or 2 games will not reflect the true result but it's a good start for KomodoTCEC. There are so many factors to consider, what hardware does each opponent use, which GUI does each opponent use and what methods of analysis. I am also still learning, (reading the Rybka forum and other sites everyday to pick up the latest on computer and correspondence chess) but I am pass the the steep curve. My opponent on the other hand has a steep learning curve ahead. Hope this makes sense. DK.

If you think the chances to save the game are 0%, you should resign.
Parent - By Abhinav Lahiri (**) Date 2014-04-03 10:05
The chances are nil from here.....i have beaten houdini 3 in 2-3 variations..... and i made houdini play against itself.....total loss from here....
So basically
I resign....(houdini 3 resigns)
