I think, and that is my personal opinion that Glaurung 1.2.1 is one of the most entertaining engines to play against.
This  style of play reminds me   on the old board computers like for instance "Novag Super Constellation" or "Novag Star
Diamond. Of course Glaurung is much stronger. But for me i look out for engines with a attractive style of  play a bit "Topalov"
style, any suggestion ? Let me know please.
Are there any suggestions for the engine parameters of Glaurung 1.2.1 and 2.0.1 ? or is default the best?
Kind Regards.
Vlad

Sorry !

This is Rybka forum !
Maybe you have a bit of chance and Sis S doesn't see your post !

Extremely sorry !

PS: I tried some changes in Glaurung 2.0.1 engine parameters. The default seems to be the strongest. But it's a secret !

I think that to get the most "interesting" style, you should do tests with those various engines and parameters against Rybka and see which has the most wins (though not necessarily the highest scoring percentage).  Glaurung 1.2.1 is more tactical, especially in the opening, than Glaurung 2.0.1, from what I've heard.  Also, Spike has a very interesting style, especially in the opening.  I know that Spike 1.2 Turin is the strongest, but I've tended to see more interesting play from Spike 1.0 Mainz and Spike 1.1, and these engines have shown that some commonly used lines for testing in the "standard" opening books of CEGT and CCRL are absolutely lost for the opposing side.

Hi !

" Spike has a very interesting style, especially in the opening."

Yes !
True !
But Spike has in its EXECUTABLE a little & very interesting book. That's the explanation !
And Spike is a very interesting chess engine from a lot of other points of view!

Silvian
