I think that having a function that choose the right move in tablebase position can be enough for Vas.

Movei does not use normal search in case that the root position is winning tablebase position and simply has a function that choose the right move based on 1 ply search.

The fact that rybka shows depth 3 suggests that rybka does not do it.

Tablebase positions do cause a search cutoff for Rybka (of course).

The search depth is 3 because Rybka always iterates to that depth, even when a mate score is reported. I suppose it's true that for tablebase positions, there is no sense to look for a shorter mate, but anyway it's a matter of a few milliseconds.
