Ok. Technically speaking. I have to copy this values to clipboard and then save it  to exe file. So next time when I open this tuned Z version in HoudiniConfigurator  what values should appear? The new one or the old one? I'm asking because after tuning my Houdini with new values the old one still appear when I open tuned version again(after closing and saving a new values) Is it normal? Reagards
Parent - By Barnard (Bronze) Date 2012-06-17 00:00
if you save the setting with ''save to exe'',you should view the newest values when you open again the engine with HoudiConfig

so if you see the old values having saved the new values, something is wrong with your process

These values are for 64 bit or 32bit Houdini? Maybe this is an issue? I see that you are using Houdini 2.0 w32, it means 32 bit and not 64?
Parent - - By Barnard (Bronze) Date 2012-06-17 00:03
the values are for the engine itself, not matter if you tune  32 or a 64 engine, yuo can tune both
Parent - - By pawel.newyork (*) Date 2012-06-17 00:32 Edited 2012-06-17 07:29
I don't know why but tuning doesn't work for me. I can't change any values, always appears the old ones doesn't matter how many times I save them to exe file. Does anyone has the same problem?
Parent - - By Barnard (Bronze) Date 2012-06-17 00:33
can you post a screen capture with ALL the steps you usually do?so i will be able to tell you where it fails

Ok I eventually made it work! The key was to run HoudiniConf with Administrative privilege! Now I'm running a match between Houdini 2.0C vs 2.0Z and first game was won by 2.0Z which only confirms its domination. What is more main lines are different in both versions, looks like good Job Barnard!
Parent - - By Barnard (Bronze) Date 2012-06-17 19:53
yes,you must run HoudiConfig with administrative privileges

thanks for your kindly words!

I have question Barnard, have you tested tuned Houdini against Rybka 4.1? However there is visible advantage over Houdini 2.0c , Rybka 4.1 seems to handle this tuned version much better. After 26 games Houdini Z is only 1 point ahead of Rybka . I know that this is not enough but I will continue this match untill 101 games and then let you know what is the final score. I was sure that this tuned version will beat Rybka with a clear advantage but I see that some parties have barely draws and a lot of them lose.....

no,i never tested Houdini2.0z against rybka 4,i havent that engine

if you want to have a good 'vision' of the engine agianst rybka, you need run at least 1000 games, because running 100 games,it can give you a statistical fluctuation results, and, for example, one engine can win 13 of 15 points in the latest 15 games, and that will distort the results of the match

so i sugest that you run a 1000 games match

p.s.i will tell to my brother that has rybka,to run a 1000 games match after the match i asked him...thanks for the info about the results of Houdini2.0z against rybka

thanks

well, seems that pawel.newyork had some statistical fluctuation, and that is why his tests gave that value against rybka

but what happened, sometimes happen;when i take a look closely to the games played by an engines.is very common that one engine plays and win 13 of 15 points consecutively, and 'x' games later,is the other engine who have that results
Parent - By Geomusic (*****) Date 2012-06-21 04:50
300 games a piece isn't enough for 4 engines :)
Parent - - By Barnard (Bronze) Date 2012-06-20 19:22
on efriend of me tested against rybka, you can see results below
Parent - - By pawel.newyork (*) Date 2012-06-21 03:23
What I did wrong was not disable hyper-threading. Houdini can use only 6 threads and rybka full 8 so rybka has advantage over Houdini. Now I disabled this feature and both engines are using full 4 core without hyper threading. For Houdini the use of processor increased to full 100% before was only 75% in every game against other engines. Despite this, he had the advantage over those engines but I think it will be much clearer now.

that explain the problem

please, post the results when you will finish the match, will be interesting to know the results

Regards
