Does anybody know where I can find a Clear and Compact Engine Correspondance Chess games list?
I mean, machine VS. machine Wars.

Like what dragon49 is doing - both Engines make 1 move per 8 hours.

Click on the link, then click on the games in the area where it says "download games in PGN format", you'll get a zipped file.   Did you get the zipped file?   Did you then unzip it?   Did you then run the unzipped file in your GUI  (SCID or whatever you use)?

How about the world championship games, did that work for you?

Right-click on link, save to disk, then open with http://www.7-zip.org/
Also associate .7z files to 7-zip so browser won't open them like text files...

Gizchehs was asking for it: he has ignored advice given to improve his English.

People that refuse to improve deserve to be mocked.

wow this came as a Hard shocking blow to me in a Split-Second !!

......

Until after 4 seconds I was thinking about this and I realized that it was Joke
Parent - - By Gizchehs Defender (***) Date 2012-06-10 12:06
Well, heck ya that I think that your English is over-ally  better than me.
That added up with that you Live/Lived in Mexico were things go way more Difficult than here in our strict DutchLand  - it says you have Talent both in Alpha and more or less B{e}ta.

So what about our Competition, English Master, Master-I?

No, I was serious, you keep capitalizing words randomly even though you've been told it looks ugly.

>So what about our Competition

It's your turn to move.

I am talking about our English Competition ofcourse.

english.. competition?

English should be capitalized, of course!

i do know i do know!

That isn't necessary. Beware of adding that to a sentence when it could do without it.

And we don't have any English competition.
Parent - - By Vempele (Silver) Date 2012-06-12 10:20

> That isn't necessary.

But you sort of have to add it when parsing the sentence. I think (that:wink:) that's what he meant.

> And we don't have any English competition.

Why single out England? Surely there are loads of places that don't have any forums that compete with us?

(Or: did you mean "we don't have an English competition"?)
Parent - - By Uly (Gold) Date 2012-06-12 10:44
No, I meant "any". There isn't any English competition between him and me. Is there any such competition?
Parent - - By Vempele (Silver) Date 2012-06-12 11:18 Edited 2012-06-12 11:27

> No, I meant "any". There isn't any English competition between him and me.

You're using "competition" as an uncountable noun here. It's the same as if you'd said "There isn't even a little bit of English competition between him and me".

> Is there any such competition?

I don't think "any such" can be used to refer to anything uncountable, so "competition" must be a countable noun here.
Parent - - By Uly (Gold) Date 2012-06-12 11:50

>It's the same as if you'd said "There isn't even a little bit of English competition between him and me".

Yep, that sounds about right.

> I don't think "any such" can be used to refer to anything uncountable, so "competition" must be a countable noun here.

So? It's like:

"Oh god, I'm in the bathroom and there isn't any paper (mass noun) left! I'm going to be late to write a paper (count noun) about my research."
Parent - - By Vempele (Silver) Date 2012-06-12 11:58 Edited 2012-06-12 12:07

> So? It's like:

> "Oh god, I'm in the bathroom and there isn't any paper (mass noun) left! I'm going to be late to write a paper (count noun) about my research."

Exactly. Different meanings. In your previous post, you started with apple sauce and ended up referring to it as an orange. A competition isn't competition unless it's itself competing against something (presumably other competitions). And just as the competition is competition to the competing competitions, the competing competitions are competition to it.
Parent - By Gizchehs Defender (***) Date 2012-06-12 21:06
Dear Vempele, can ' meant ' be used instead of ' Mentioned ' ?
Parent - By Uly (Gold) Date 2012-06-13 00:29
And here, there's neither a competition nor any competition between Gizchehs and me. Both are correct.

for dear Uly:

You are Perfect Uly !!
You are ( Significantly ) better in English than me. I always care about Vocabulary the most, because I enjoy learning that the most if we talk about the Language of the English.[Subjective]
Lets do a Competition made by others or somebody from who's vocabulary is far better than our two better ( Native English men and Girls ).
I like this Competition although I know that I think that your English vocabulary is better.
For once I will not use my Trusted online English Dictionary. That's Cheating and I should be Banned for Life from this Forum may I Cheat in out Possible Future Competition

I had English Lessons for 4 years officially on the {a} HighSchool, and for about 0,68 of a Year on a Semi-Highschool.
Now I have to say, I do not like everything of School.
Certain things are simply Wrong.
An example is that we were getting massed with ' Dutch ' things that we didn't and still don't need in Practice, however it had to be Finished.
Than it was - what I like to say - or Dutch language Philosophy, or It just was to give us something because it was almost the End of the Year.
And what if you didn't like it?

...

Well, bet I will be more Rebellious now with this MindSet I have gained from the Harsch History
The same goes for going to the Toilet.

But where we are Talking about now, is about English.
I wanted to go Higher, but my General Niveau of all other Subjects didn't allowed it, according to the leader of the School ( lol, Leader, it is Director ), so my Female English Teacher gave me extra English Excercises and Tests of the Higher Niveua, but I still had to sit down and follow the Lessons with my Main Class.

* FunFact *: People are often saying '' yea, but here your Grammar and, there your Sentence Structure is not Correct ''... and they are Correct. Both the Teachers that I had ( well, I had more than two but back then I didn't talked and wrote so much, Generally, I think ) Complained about me making it very Beautiful and Sophisticated, While my Sentence Structure and Grammar Failed more or less ( does it still fails, Uly lol ? )

Ahh, that's a Good Home Square for the Knight.
an OutPost.

Now, I might be Sorry.
I have written much and want to play Chess now, I haven't done much Today I think
I am going to Finish this Reply later on... with Possibly another Post, as you Certainly Know.

Cleaned up version of that post:

*****************************************************************************

Uly,

You have significantly better English than myself!

I enjoy learning vocabulary the most, so let's have a competition to see who has the best vocabulary hosted by someone with a far better vocabulary than either of us.

I think it'll be fun even though you're likely to win. I won't use an online dictionary for words that I don't know as that would be cheating (resulting in being "Banned for Life" :-P).

Some background: I had English lessons in high school, and a tiny bit outside high school. Unfortunately many of the things I was taught were simply wrong. We were often taught things that apply specifically to the Dutch language and do not apply to English. I wanted to take further courses on it in college but had too many other subjects at the time.

Fun Fact: Two teachers of mine complained that I wrote with incorrect grammar and sentence structure, yet had a beautiful and sophisticated style.

-Gizchehs

Labyrinth note:

This paragraph: "Well, bet I will be more Rebellious now with this MindSet I have gained from the Harsch History The same goes for going to the Toilet."

..is undecipherable. Rebellious in regards to language learning so as not to be lead down the wrong path? A harsh history has also resulted in a rebelliousness to going to the toilet? I really have no idea how to interpret that.
Parent - By Banned for Life (Gold) Date 2012-06-13 07:27
The Dutch have always been rebellious. As an example, check out their response to Napoleon, particularly to his insistence that they adopt family names...
Parent - - By Uly (Gold) Date 2012-06-13 08:40
Thanks Laby!

So I see he wants to hold a competition. Well, I'll accept as long as Vempele accepts to be arbiter of the match, for sure Vempele has a better vocabulary, spelling and grammar than Gizchehs and me, and I will accept his verdict even if I'd disagree with it.

And if Vempele doesn't accept it because it's not worth his time, I'd also not accept Gizchehs's challenge because it's probably not worth mine either!

I'd think Nelson would be a good choice :-)
Parent - - By Nelson Hernandez (Gold) Date 2012-06-13 10:09
As seen in other contexts, the person who asks me to be a judge, arbiter or coin-flipper in any contest is going to be the loser.
Parent - - By Banned for Life (Gold) Date 2012-06-13 11:19
I was in DC a while back and needed to go to a supermarket to get some wine. At the counter, the checkout gal asked if I had a discount card. Remembering your advice, I loudly proclaimed my insistence on paying full retail price! The girl almost dropped my wine and everyone in the store was convinced that I was a psychopath! Mission accomplished!
Parent - By Nelson Hernandez (Gold) Date 2012-06-13 13:03
[High five]  That's the way!  Jolt them out of their bovine complacency!  Give the 99% an ice cold dose of harsh reality, raw and up close!  People scuttling around for trivial discounts in supermarkets are losers!  I hope you gave the teller your most imperious glare.
Parent - By Uly (Gold) Date 2012-06-15 08:06

> I'd think Nelson would be a good choice :-)

Yeah, I think Gizchehs should invite Nelson to be our judge, it'd mean I'd get instant win!
