16. Na5?! seemed unnecessary, thoughts?

16. Na5 is a normal book move and the most popular move at this point. White gets good compensation for the pawn. Check any modern openingbook.

How much of this game was book?

Probably 22. Rge1 was the first new move, perhaps Nelson can look it up in his database?

22.Rge1 is in book but not 22...b4.

I have 22.Reg1 still in the Vesely book, and the only reply to that was 22...a5 so 22...b4 would be new but this being the Najdorf maybe there already are several thousand games with this move... But I commend Pro Deo with staying in book against Rybka that long!

At depth 22, these are the three best moves I see in this position

Pro Deo's opening play was brilliant until move 18.  Then the move to play was 19.c4.  Black is in a 22.4% position with 33.4% draws, which can continue 19...Rb8 20.h4 or 19...Qd8 20.cxb5 axb5 21.h4 both of which put in black in the 82-84% success realm.

Na5 is played over 80% of the time in this position and is by far the best move statistically with 68.9% success.
